Cookies and privacy choices
Policy updated: .
Cookies are small values a website can store in a browser. Local storage is another browser storage mechanism. Both can remember choices or support tracking. This notice explains the site’s own use and the services currently configured.
Necessary preferences
We remember choices made in our analytics panel in local storage under “port-atlas-consent-v1”, with a date and a record of the configured services. They expire after 180 days or when those services change. This is a preference, not an advertising identifier. If storage is blocked, the choice applies to the current page and we may ask again on the next page. Hosting security features may use strictly necessary technology to serve and protect requests.
Optional services
- Analytics: Google Analytics is enabled. After analytics consent, it may set first-party _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish visits; provider defaults can persist for up to two years and may be refreshed on a visit. The publisher should configure the shortest useful retention in its account.
- Advertising: No advertising service is enabled.
- Affiliate providers: outbound links carry a partner identifier when configured. The provider may set its own attribution cookies after you follow the link. Those cookies are governed by its notice and choices.
See Google’s cookie information and Google’s advertising and measurement cookie list for provider details.
Change or withdraw consent
Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to reopen the analytics panel. Withdrawing an active choice reloads the page to stop loaded scripts and attempts to clear known first-party analytics cookies. The site cannot delete another domain’s cookies; use your browser settings to remove those. You can also clear site data in your browser. Blocking optional cookies does not remove access to the guide text.
How consent works
Optional analytics load only after your analytics choice in our panel. Rejecting analytics does not prevent reading a guide. Silence or continued browsing does not count as agreement. Google consent signals start as denied before any Google script loads. Our privacy notice explains personal information and your rights. Contact editor@portatlas.co.uk with questions.
