Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure identifies Port of Burgas as the operator of East-1 and the public-access area. BMF operates the separate East-2 and Burgas West concession terminals. The Port of Burgas map identifies the Marine Station within its waterfront facilities.

Cruise ships berth alongside at the passenger facilities around the Marine Station. The port's MedCruise profile lists passenger quays, and its published call history describes cruise ships berthing at the terminal.

Public access to part of the waterfront does not establish permission to cross every working quay. Give a driver the ship's designated meeting point, rather than only “Burgas port”.

About this port

Burgas suits a day that starts with the city itself: Aleksandrovska Street, the Sea Garden and the waterfront. This keeps the return relatively straightforward. An excursion to Nessebar is a separate road journey and needs a firmer transport plan.

The distinction between Burgas's port operators matters when arranging a collection. Passenger facilities should not be confused with the East-2 and West freight terminals simply because they share the port's name.

Getting Around

The railway station is at Tsaritsa Yoana Square, at the start of Aleksandrovska Street. South Bus Station is beside it. The railway station, bus station and Marine Station are different meeting points; distinguish them when arranging a return.

For an out-of-town excursion, a booked return transfer gives you an agreed collection point and departure time. Keep the city walk as the simpler choice for a short call.

Things to Do

  • A manageable city walk: make Aleksandrovska Street the inland part of the visit, then head towards the Sea Garden via Bogoridi Street. The municipal tourism description identifies a terrace at that park entrance overlooking the sea, pier and port. This is a useful destination in its own right; touring the entire park is optional.
  • A park-focused visit: use the Sea Garden for a walk with a deliberate turnaround point. Avoid letting a walk away from the entrance consume the time reserved for getting back through the port.
  • An excursion with a different focus: Nessebar's ancient city is a UNESCO World Heritage property on a peninsula. Choose it for its historic streets and churches if the call allows a return road excursion. It should replace a substantial Burgas programme, rather than be added at the end.

Getting back to your ship

For an out-of-town excursion, a booked return transfer gives you an agreed collection point and departure time. Keep the city walk as the simpler choice for a short call.

Practical Information

  • Currency: euro. Euro notes and coins became Bulgaria's sole legal tender on 1 February 2026, following January's dual-circulation period.
  • Emergencies: 112.
  • Transport bookings: agree the collection point, waiting arrangements and return deadline before leaving.
  • Access needs: arrange any required gangway assistance with the ship before disembarking.
