Ships dock alongside. The Port of Aarhus's 2026 cruise FAQ identifies the cruise-terminal berths 129/131/133 and berth 503, the Omni Terminal. Match the quay number as well as the terminal name when arranging a meeting point.

Both berthing areas have controlled, staffed gates, and the port says identification is checked. The port-supplied Cruise Baltic profile says a shuttle is required at berth 503; use the transfer and meeting point announced by your ship. The central terminal has a taxi stand, ramps and accessible toilets.

About this port

Aarhus offers two contrasting museum visits: art at ARoS, or recreated town life at Den Gamle By. Choose one as the main activity for a short call, leaving room for the transfer and a walk in the city. Your starting point matters because the port has separate cruise berthing areas.

Getting Around

Use the berth and exit named by the ship when arranging a pickup. “Aarhus cruise terminal” can be too imprecise for a driver or excursion meeting point. Follow the designated pedestrian route; do not route yourself through other commercial quays using a city map alone.

Buy a tram single ticket in the Rejsebillet app before boarding; tickets are not sold on the tram or its platforms. The short Dokk1–Skolebakken tram hop serves the waterfront section of the route, while continuing on foot is straightforward.

Once in town, keep the day centred on your chosen museum and nearby streets. A direct taxi transfer is worth considering if it preserves time for the visit. Confirm the return pickup before entering a museum, and check its closing arrangements before travelling there.

Things to Do

  • ARoS: make the art collection your main visit. James Turrell’s As Seen Below is a Skyspace installation included in a normal museum visit, while its sunrise and sunset sessions require an advance reservation. Check the museum’s visitor notices before travelling, as individual spaces can have temporary closures. A daytime gallery visit is easier to fit around a short call than a session tied to twilight.
  • Den Gamle By: its recreated urban environments span different periods of Danish history, including the twentieth century and the recent past. Choose the areas that interest you instead of trying to see the entire museum during a brief stop.

For a short call, these are alternatives. Adding a distant theme park or another island would require a separately planned excursion and a much tighter transport commitment.
