Ships dock at Oceankaj (Ocean Quay), Langelinie or Nordre Toldbod. Copenhagen Malmö Port confirms all three locations. At Oceankaj, also record the terminal number: a taxi destination or public-transport search using only “Copenhagen port” is insufficient.

Keep the ship's boarding instructions and return gate with you. Allow separately for disembarkation, walking between the ship and transport, and the return checks. A quoted city journey time does not include these steps.

About this port

Copenhagen's cruise berths create different starting points for a day ashore. Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod put you near the central waterfront. Oceankaj requires a transfer before most city sightseeing. Plan from the pier named on your cruise documents, especially when arranging an airport journey or returning with luggage.

Getting Around

The following routes were checked against VisitCopenhagen on 2026-09-08.

| Arrival point | Practical connection | | --- | --- | | Oceankaj | Bus 25 operates for cruise calls; bus 164 runs year-round. Both connect with Orientkaj for Metro M4. Kongens Nytorv, beside Nyhavn, is about 20 minutes away by this combined journey. The bus 25 stop is at Terminal 1. | | Langelinie | Walk about 15 minutes to Østerport, or use bus 27 from Indiakaj. Continue by Metro or train if your destination is beyond the waterfront. | | Nordre Toldbod | Walk towards the central waterfront; Marmorkirken for Metro M3/M4 is about 14 minutes away on foot. |

For the airport from Oceankaj, continue from Orientkaj on M4 to Kongens Nytorv and change to M2 for the airport. A taxi reduces changes and luggage handling; public transport gives a rail connection after the initial bus leg.

Things to Do

  • From Langelinie: begin with the Little Mermaid and the harbour promenade. This uses the arrival location well, without spending the first part of the visit crossing the city.
  • From Oceankaj: Kongens Nytorv makes a useful Metro destination for exploring nearby Nyhavn. Keep a walk around this central area as the core plan if your call is short.
  • A longer city visit: extend your walk only after setting a return departure time from the centre. Sightseeing time must leave room for the transfer back to the correct pier; the Metro does not take you to the Oceankaj gangway.

Getting back to your ship

Keep the ship's boarding instructions and return gate with you. Allow separately for disembarkation, walking between the ship and transport, and the return checks. A quoted city journey time does not include these steps.

Practical Information

Currency is the Danish krone (DKK). Dial 112 for emergencies.

Buy a ticket valid for your route before travelling; bus 25 is public transport and should not be treated as a free port shuttle. DOT provides ticket information and the Rejsebillet app. Check the precise terminal with your cruise line for embarkation or disembarkation, particularly before arranging an airport transfer.
