Ships dock in the Port of Santos and passengers are handled through Concais, also called Terminal Marítimo de Passageiros Giusfredo Santini. Its address is Avenida Cândido Gaffrée, Armazém 25. Concais lists transport between the ship and passenger terminal among its services; follow the transfer arrangement for your berth rather than treating the working quay as a pedestrian route.

The passenger terminal and your actual ship position are separate reference points. Use Concais for a city pickup and return instruction unless the cruise line specifies otherwise. Passengers beginning a cruise should follow their assigned check-in time and document instructions, which differ from a transit passenger's return procedure.

About this port

Santos has enough for its own port day: a historic centre shaped by the coffee trade, a heritage tram and a long beachfront garden. If your itinerary labels the call "São Paulo (Santos)", remember that the ship is in Santos. Visiting São Paulo is a separate inland journey, not a short ride into the centre of the port city.

For an independent visit, choose the historic centre or the beachfront first. Combining them can work if your time ashore allows, but each requires a clear journey back to the cruise terminal.

Getting Around

Concais identifies a taxi area outside the terminal. A taxi to a named attraction, followed by walking within that district, is a straightforward way to use a limited call.

The terminal's current pickup guidance directs express drop-offs and pickups to the bay at Portaria 3; ordinary collecting cars cannot simply enter the internal yard. If someone is meeting you, agree that location and follow any directions issued on the day. Accessible vehicle access needs to be arranged with Concais beforehand.

In the historic centre, the tourist tram is an attraction rather than a port transfer. Check its current operating arrangements and boarding point before fitting it around another timed visit.

Things to Do

Coffee and the historic centre: use the Museu do Café, at Rua Quinze de Novembro 95, as a clear first destination. The museum offers a reason to understand Santos through its trading history rather than simply photograph old buildings. Leave time for a coffee and a look at the surrounding streets instead of rushing directly to another district.

Valongo and the tourist tram: the heritage tram lets you see the historic centre from a different perspective. The Museu Pelé is at Largo Marquês de Monte Alegre in Valongo, so football enthusiasts can make that their main indoor visit. Check the tram's route and availability rather than assuming every historic vehicle or themed ride runs daily.

Beachfront gardens: choose a section of the Jardim da Orla for a coastal walk. The city's tourism authority describes the garden along the waterfront between José Menino and Ponta da Praia. You do not need to cover its full length. Agree a recognisable place to meet your return driver before starting, particularly if you plan to walk in only one direction.

Getting back to your ship

Ask to return to Concais, Armazém 25, not simply "Porto de Santos". This is a large working port, and a car reaching an unrelated gate is not the end of the journey. Keep the terminal's pickup/drop-off instructions with your cruise documents.

Your return needs room for city traffic, the terminal process and any internal transfer to the berth. If you have spent the day on the beachfront, do not treat seeing ships in the channel as evidence that your terminal is a short walk away. Leave a second district for another visit if adding it uses your return margin.

Practical Information

The terminal lists toilets, tourist information, shops and accessible facilities. These are useful on arrival, but they do not establish step-free access through every ship's gangway.

Keep the place names in Portuguese for drivers. Confirm the fare and payment method before travelling; no fixed city taxi price is assumed here. On an embarkation or disembarkation day, arrange luggage handling separately from sightseeing so a museum or tram visit does not depend on carrying bags with you.
