Ports of Jersey provides for both alongside and offshore cruise calls. Smaller suitable vessels can berth at Albert Pier; larger ships use anchorages, including St Aubin's Bay and Demie de Pas. The authority describes Albert Pier Pontoon as a tender reception point, connected to land by a pedestrian bridge. Confirm the actual landing place with your ship before arranging a pickup.
Albert Pier has a transit terminal with toilets, seating and space for coaches and taxis. Record where to rejoin the ship or tender before leaving the terminal. Book any boarding assistance with the ship before going ashore.
About this port
For a short call, build the day around St Helier's harbour and one museum. Elizabeth Castle is a separate decision: its position on a tidal island makes the crossing and return part of the visit. An excursion elsewhere in Jersey adds another transport connection to a day that may already begin and end with a ship's tender.
Getting Around
LibertyBus services connect island destinations with Liberation Station in St Helier. Use the operator's timetable to choose an outward journey and a return that leaves room for the harbour walk and any tender queue. A day pass is worth comparing with individual tickets only after deciding how many journeys you will make.
A local museum visit keeps the return simple. For an island excursion, choose one destination and settle the return transport before setting off; a prearranged car or organised excursion may be more practical than making several bus connections within a short call.
Things to Do
- Maritime Museum and Occupation Tapestry Gallery: Jersey Heritage's site on New North Quay combines interactive exhibits about seafaring with a tapestry telling the island's story during the Second World War. This is a harbour-based option for visitors who want an indoor activity without an island transfer. Check its visitor page for the date of your call.
- Elizabeth Castle: its published 2026 visiting season ends on 1 November. From 25 October to 1 November, opening hours are 10:00–16:00, with the last ferry from the castle at 15:30 (Jersey Heritage, checked 2026-10-31). For a later call, plan a town or museum visit unless Jersey Heritage announces further opening dates. When the castle is open, access is by the causeway when the tide allows, or by the castle ferry. Agree the return method with the staff. Do not assume a causeway available on the outward walk will still be available later; wind and tide conditions can also change ferry services and opening hours. Keep this visit separate from a tightly timed bus excursion.
For the shortest call, choose the museum and leave the remaining time for a meal and the harbour return.

Practical Information
- Money: Jersey uses sterling, with local notes and coins alongside UK currency. You may receive Jersey money in change. Spend it on the island or ask about exchange before leaving; do not rely on spending it at your next UK port. This is cash-acceptance advice, not a statement about legal tender.
- Emergencies: dial 999 or 112, as advised by the Government of Jersey.
- Timing: check museum admission and castle crossing arrangements with Jersey Heritage. A tide-dependent castle visit and the ship's last tender involve separate deadlines.
