King's Harbour receives ships alongside quays 2, 3 and 4. The port provides cruise reception and visitor information, with arrangements coordinated for each ship. Taxis collect outside the ISPS security fence; the port describes supply as limited.
This guide covers Kongshavn. Elduvík, Funningur, Oyndarfjørður and Rituvík are separate expedition destinations where the port describes anchoring and tendering. Do not apply Kongshavn's docking arrangements to a call naming one of those villages.
About this port
Kongshavn, also called King's Harbour, is the main cruise harbour at Runavík on Eysturoy. A local visit can focus on the town and Lake Toftavatn. Travelling to the island's other villages needs a separate transport plan; the port authority also handles expedition calls at several villages, which are different arrival places.
Getting Around
Use Visit Runavík at Heiðavegur 13 as a reference point for local directions. Its published Toftavatn walk is approximately 4 km from the visitor office and back; the additional distance from your berth is outside that figure.
For a village excursion, arrange a vehicle with an agreed return time or establish both public-transport journeys in advance. The port's reception programme varies by visit, so ask what is actually offered rather than expecting an advertised performance or tour at a fixed time.
Things to Do
- Lake Toftavatn: Visit Runavík rates its route as easy. Use the published route and allow for the approach from the port. A return along the same approach gives you an earlier finish if the weather worsens.
- Town and visitor reception: a useful shorter plan when the call leaves little time. Start with local advice at the visitor office and stay within the town streets before returning to your assigned quay.
- An arranged Eysturoy outing: choose a single destination beyond Runavík if you want a broader island visit. Ask the transport provider to account for the return to Kongshavn before accepting extra stops.

Practical Information
- Currency: Faroese króna, exchanged at 1:1 with Danish kroner; Denmark's coins are used. Faroese notes are not valid for payment in Denmark.
- Emergencies: 112.
- Walking: carry a weatherproof layer and save the return instructions before leaving reception. “Easy” is a tourism-board trail rating, not an assurance of wheelchair access.
