Dunmore East: the port authority describes larger ships anchoring here, with passengers transferred by tender to shore. The landing is at Dunmore East Harbour, not in Waterford city. Keep the last tender time and coach meeting point with you before leaving the landing.

Belview: ships berth at the commercial port, which the authority places 8 km downstream from Waterford city. Arrange transport into the city and follow the authorised route to its pickup. Do not interpret the port's description of Waterford as walkable as an instruction to walk from the cargo berth.

Waterford city: the port's cruise page still labels the city berth as reopening in 2026, as checked on 2026-09-08. Use city-quay arrival instructions only when the ship assigns that berth and exit.

About this port

For Waterford, the landing location determines the day. A Dunmore East call starts with a tender crossing and a road journey if you want the city; Belview is a working port downstream; a confirmed city-quay berth gives a different starting point again. Establish which one your ship uses before booking a city tour.

For a short call, choose either a local Dunmore East visit or a focused Waterford city outing. Allow more time for a tender arrival than for stepping ashore at an alongside berth.

Getting Around

Bus Éireann route 354 connects Dunmore East with Waterford and continues to Carrick-on-Suir. Published journeys from the Dunmore East stop to the Clock Tower take about 38 minutes. Choose the return service before travelling.

A pre-arranged taxi, ship transfer or excursion can reduce the connection between the tender landing and a scheduled bus. Confirm the total arrangement, including the return pickup and whether the price is per person or per vehicle. A public bus can work when its timetable fits, but it should leave room for a missed service before your last tender.

From Belview, arrange both legs of the city transfer. Once in the centre, keeping the visit around the Viking Triangle and The Mall avoids another road excursion.

Things to Do

Start with the craft visit if it is your priority: House of Waterford is on The Mall beside the Viking Triangle. Its factory tour covers crystal production, including blowing and cutting, while the retail store and exhibition area are distinct parts of the facility. Check the admission arrangement for the factory rather than assuming that a shop visit includes the tour.

Choose local history: Waterford Treasures' Medieval Museum incorporates the Choristers' Hall and Mayor's Wine Vault. It offers a focused museum visit instead of travelling onward to another county. Choose your visit length around the return transfer, not around the number of attractions listed on a multi-site pass.

Stay at Dunmore East: if your ship lands there and the usable time ashore is short, a village visit and meal avoid the city transfer. Keep the harbour return instructions with you. A distant castle excursion is a separate programme, not an easy addition to a delayed tender call.
