The port authority distinguishes three arrangements:

  • City Pier, quay 119: directly in the centre, for smaller ships. It is not the same arrival point as South Harbour.
  • Anchorage: tenders use the marina in North Harbour, adjacent to the centre. Record the return landing and last tender before leaving.
  • South Harbour: several working-port quays accommodate cruise ships. The authority estimates 5–10 minutes to the centre by car, checked on 2026-09-08; traffic and the assigned quay affect the journey. Follow the marked route to the permitted exit or transfer vehicle.

About this port

Helsingborg offers two useful kinds of day: remain around the waterfront and Kärnan, or make Sofiero's gardens your main outing. Check the berth first. A City Pier or North Harbour tender arrival starts centrally; a South Harbour call adds a transfer.

Getting Around

Keep a central visit on foot, adjusting the route to the climb towards Kärnan. For Sofiero, the attraction directs passengers to northbound city bus 8, towards Domsten/Hittarp, alighting at Laröd Sofiero huvudentré. Use the linked Skånetrafiken journey planner for your date and return journey.

Sofiero describes a six-kilometre walking route from Kärnan via Pålsjö woods. That is an outing in its own right; use transport if you also want substantial garden time during a short call.

Things to Do

  • Waterfront and Kärnan: combine a look around the central harbour with the surviving medieval keep above the city. The tower dates to the early 14th century, with later restoration. Its entrance and tower visit involve stairs; a harbour walk is the simpler alternative if climbing is unsuitable.
  • Sofiero Palace and Gardens: north of the centre, with a main entrance at Sofierovägen 131. Choose it as the principal stop rather than treating it as a quick extra after an extensive town walk.
  • Helsingør across the strait: Øresundslinjen carries foot passengers between the two cities, with passenger ticket facilities at Helsingborg C. Add the crossing only when the operator's return options leave ample time to reach your cruise berth. Avoid trying to combine Denmark and Sofiero during a short call.

Getting back to your ship

Practical Information

Currency: Swedish krona (SEK). Carry a payment card. Call 112 in an emergency.

Use the ship's all-aboard time when planning. A local bus or cross-strait ferry is independent transport; do not rely on the final possible return connection. Consult venue opening information individually.

Frequently asked

Can you walk from Helsingborg's tender landing into the centre? Yes. North Harbour is adjacent to the centre, and the port map places Town Hall 0.4 km from the tender quay.

How long does it take from Helsingborg South Harbour to the centre? About 5–10 minutes by car, according to the port authority. South Harbour is a working-port arrival, so follow the marked route to the transfer vehicle.

Do cruise ships dock or tender in Helsingborg? Both are common. The port's published schedule assigns calls to South Harbour and to North Harbour anchorage, while smaller ships can use City Pier.

Where do tenders land in Helsingborg? At the marina in North Harbour, adjacent to the centre. Keep the return landing and last-tender time recorded.
