- Taxi: The published cruise-passenger tariff is US$12 for a solo passenger or US$8 each for two or more, one way. Prearrange the vehicle; this is a fare schedule, not a guarantee of cars waiting at the landing.

Cruise ships remain offshore and passengers transfer by boat. The government's Anegada cruise tariff identifies Setting Point, and SeaDream's independent-exploration instructions finish at the pier there. Record the ship's exact boat pickup point when you land.
The shallow approaches and surrounding reefs make the marine arrival an operator-controlled part of the visit. Follow the crew's landing arrangements and discuss any difficulty with boat steps before disembarking. The island's flat terrain does not establish a step-free transfer from your ship.
About this port
Anegada is a low coral island with widely separated beaches and a very different landscape from the mountainous neighbouring islands. Small ocean-cruise yachts include it on their itineraries, but this is a beach and island-exploration call rather than a port with a compact sightseeing centre beside the ship.
Setting Point is the arrival reference; The Settlement is the main township. Neither should be confused with the north-coast beaches that often draw visitors here. Decide on transport before spending your limited time ashore, particularly if you want to visit Cow Wreck or Loblolly Bay.
Getting Around
A prearranged taxi or hire car lets you plan a beach visit around the time available ashore. L & M advertises open-air and air-conditioned taxis on Anegada. Reserve your outward trip and collection together; a published island taxi service does not establish a continuous rank at every beach.
Self-drive exploration is another option offered by SeaDream. Its route links the western beaches, Cow Wreck, Loblolly and The Settlement before returning to Setting Point. The operator warns about sandy roads and vehicles becoming stuck off the road. Stay on the established route, and choose a shorter outing if you would rather spend time in the water than behind the wheel.
Things to Do
Cow Wreck Bay: Make this your main beach stop if you want sand, a swim when conditions suit and a place for refreshments. Arrange the specific beach pickup point before the driver leaves; “the north coast” is too vague for a return rendezvous.
Loblolly Bay: This is an alternative north-coast beach with snorkelling opportunities. Bring your own equipment unless your excursion includes it. Access to a reef does not mean that swimming conditions will suit everyone on the day, so decide whether to enter the water after assessing local conditions.
The Settlement: Visit the main township for a different view of island life and its small shops. It can be part of a planned drive, rather than an obligatory first stop between the landing and a beach. For a short call, choosing a single beach and leaving time for lunch is more useful than attempting every stop on a full island circuit.
Getting back to your ship
Your return has two stages: road transport to Setting Point and the boat back aboard. Set the beach collection time using the ship's last-tender instructions, allowing for vehicle return formalities if you have hired a car. Keep the driver's contact details and the landing name with you. Avoid making a late extra beach stop after you have already started the return drive; the ship's deadline includes the boat connection, not just reaching the south coast.
Practical Information
Pack extra drinking water, sun protection and a towel. US dollars are used locally. Carry a small amount of cash for purchases and transport, with the return fare set aside before ordering lunch.
If hiring a vehicle, take your driving licence and establish the rental requirements in advance. Traffic drives on the left. Leave shells and coral where you find them: UK government travel advice warns that taking them, including dead coral, out of the BVI without a permit is illegal.
