Cruise ships berth at Larnaca Port. The Cyprus Ports Authority's published cruise rules provide for allocation beside the cruise terminal, subject to berth confirmation and competing calls. Its port description places the harbour approximately 2 km from the centre.
The port controls entry and exit. Follow the ship's instructions for reaching the authorised exit or transfer vehicle and for the return gate.
About this port
Larnaca works well as a seafront and old-town visit once you have left the commercial port. Finikoudes promenade, the castle and Saint Lazarus Church form a useful local focus. Keep the port-to-town transfer separate from your sightseeing plan: the marina beside the promenade is not the cruise arrival point.
Getting Around
After reaching central Larnaca, use the tourism board's city map for a loop linking Finikoudes, the castle and Saint Lazarus Church. Walking suits this cluster. Taxis are available outside the port's passenger area if you prefer to save your walking for sightseeing.
Bus 425 runs towards the airport for the inward trip above. For the return towards Dekeleia, board on Makariou III Avenue in front of the police station or on Grigori Afxentiou before the police station; the two directions use different central streets.
For a short call, stay with this central group. Kamares is a separate outing: arrange the return journey before leaving the centre, rather than assuming it falls along the same seafront walk.
Things to Do
- Saint Lazarus Church and the old town: visit the church area as the inland part of a walk from the waterfront. Allow for worship or other restrictions on interior visits.
- Finikoudes and the castle: combine the promenade and beachfront with the castle at its southern end. This makes a flexible plan because you can shorten the walk without losing a booked return transfer.
- Kamares Aqueduct: the surviving arches stand outside the central seafront area. The tourism board describes an eighteenth-century water-supply monument, with a viewing area and a path towards the salt lake. Choose it for an interest in the structure itself; wildlife sightings are not promised.
Getting back to your ship
For a short call, stay with this central group. Kamares is a separate outing: arrange the return journey before leaving the centre, rather than assuming it falls along the same seafront walk.
Practical Information
Currency is the euro (EUR). Dial 112 for police, fire or ambulance emergencies. Check admission arrangements with the sites before leaving the ship, and keep enough time for the port's return checks as well as the journey back.
