Orientation, not a walking route

Ships berth alongside at the New Port. DP World, the terminal operator, puts the city centre about 15 minutes away by car, an approximate journey estimate checked on 2026-09-08; add time for traffic and disembarkation. The operator advises passengers needing assistance to arrange it through their cruise agent.
A vehicle transfer is a sensible starting point if you want to spend your walking time in the old town. There is a taxi station and city-bus stop at the cruise terminal.
About this port
Limassol gives cruise passengers two workable choices: transfer into the old harbour district for the castle and waterfront, or arrange an excursion to the archaeological sites outside town. Cruise ships use the New Cruise Terminal at the New Port. Keep that name on your return instructions; the Old Port is a sightseeing destination, not the place to rejoin the ship.
Getting Around
EMEL's route 30 towards Parklane Hotel lists both New Port – Passenger Building and Agias Theklis – Old Port. This is the useful direction for an independent trip into the old harbour area; check the destination before boarding. The reverse route has different street stops, so identify the return stop rather than waiting automatically on the opposite side of the road. Use EMEL's routes for the timetable.
For the return journey towards My Mall, EMEL lists Tzelal Bagiar – Agios Antonios Church 1 before the New Port stops. A taxi offers a direct journey if that walk or the bus connection does not suit your time ashore.
EMEL has announced a daytime single-ticket increase to €2.50 one way from 5 November 2026; the €2 one-way fare above applies on the verification date. This change is listed in the operator's notice issued on 27 August 2026.
Things to Do
- Old harbour and castle: use the Old Port bus stop as your starting point. The castle houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum, with objects including pottery, weapons and tombstones. Pair an interior visit with time around the old harbour.
- Kourion: the archaeological site includes a theatre and remains of houses with mosaic floors. Make it the main purpose of a trip outside Limassol, with a return vehicle arranged.
- Kolossi Castle: a possible second stop on a planned heritage excursion. Add it only if the excursion's duration leaves adequate time to reboard; a town visit plus several distant sites is not a default short-call programme.
Getting back to your ship
For the return journey towards My Mall, EMEL lists Tzelal Bagiar – Agios Antonios Church 1 before the New Port stops. A taxi offers a direct journey if that walk or the bus connection does not suit your time ashore.
