Ships dock at Skagen's cruise quays. The port's current information gives pier 10 the same 1.6 km / 20-minute town walk as pier 9; from Godskajen, pier 41, it is 2 km / 30 minutes. Use the figures for your assigned quay.

The port advertises reception facilities and a town shuttle. Walking is permitted: the shuttle is recommended rather than mandatory. The town shuttle and onward travel to Grenen are separate journeys.

About this port

A Skagen call usually comes down to a choice between the town's art and harbour, or an outing to Grenen. The headland is a separate journey beyond the cruise-to-town transfer. For a short call, choose one main activity rather than assuming the port shuttle takes you all the way to the meeting of the seas.

Getting Around

A town visit allows you to combine a museum with time around the harbour. Grenen requires another leg: Destination NORD describes cycle routes from Skagen and a walking approach from the parking area. The Sandormen tractor-drawn wagon is a seasonal option for that final approach; check its operation before depending on it.

A taxi or arranged excursion can simplify the journey to the headland, but still needs a return booking. A paved trail in the wider area should not be taken as proof that the sandy tip is accessible to every wheelchair or walking aid.

Things to Do

  • Skagens Museum: art associated with the painters who worked in Skagen. Choose this as the main indoor visit if the weather or the call length makes a coastal outing less appealing; check the museum's visitor information.
  • Grenen: see waves from the Skagerrak and Kattegat meet at the tip. Swimming is prohibited because of dangerous currents. Keep to the shore and follow signs at the headland.
  • Town and harbour: keep this as the flexible part of the day, before or after your main visit. The art museum and the headland are alternatives for a short call; combining them requires more time and a transport plan.

Getting back to your ship

Leave time for the return from the town shuttle stop to the quay. A journey to Grenen must also allow for getting back from the sandy tip to the vehicle or bicycle.

Practical Information

Currency is the Danish krone (DKK). Dial 112 for emergencies.
