Bandol is a tender port. Var Provence Cruise Club identifies Quai Ricard as the tender landing and places the centre about 30 metres from the harbour. Seabourn also lists Bandol as a tender destination.

Once ashore, follow the crew's directions to the public waterfront and note the exact return point. Weather and boat operations can still reduce the time available ashore. Passengers needing assistance boarding the tender should arrange this with their ship.

Keep the last tender departure available on your phone or in writing. Any trip on another boat, including to Bendor, needs to finish comfortably before that deadline.

About this port

Bandol suits a day of harbour walking, a beach break and a meal rather than a long transfer along the coast. The centre faces the marina, with shops on Quai Charles de Gaulle and sandy beaches available within the town.

Its offshore island, Bendor, requires advance arrangements. For an uncomplicated short call, build the day around the mainland. A vineyard visit or island outing should be a chosen alternative with its own arrangements, rather than an assumed addition after lunch.

Getting Around

Walking is the practical choice for the marina and central shops. The tourist office lists the railway station as about a 15-minute walk from the port. Bandol Bus 2 offers the Embarcadère–La Gare alternative described above. The taxi rank is also identified on the tourist office’s centre information page.

Use current rail or bus information if travelling beyond Bandol. Check the complete outward and return journey, including transfers at both ends, before committing to another town during a short call.

If visiting a winery, arrange the visit and return transport beforehand. A wine-producing destination does not imply that individual estates admit visitors without an appointment.

Things to Do

Harbour and centre: Walk along Quai Charles de Gaulle, then browse the streets behind the waterfront. This gives you a flexible programme with places to stop for food and time to return early if tender operations change.

Beach time: The tourist office identifies Rènecros, Plage Centrale, Plage du Casino and Grand Vallat as sandy options. Choose one according to the distance you want to walk and the conditions on arrival. Check local swimming flags and current supervision rather than assuming summer lifeguards are present throughout the season.

Bendor, with conditions: The island reopened in May 2026. However, the tourist office's July update says the shuttle is now reserved for passengers with a reservation at an island establishment, such as a restaurant or workshop. This restriction was checked on 2026-09-07. Consult the official access page before making plans; a casual walk-up crossing should not be assumed.

Coastal walking: A short waterfront outing is easier to fit into a call than the full coastal path. A tourism-office notice dated 31 March 2026, still displayed when checked on 2026-09-07, restricts access at the Athéna footbridge and on a section starting from La Madrague. Check the latest notice and turn back at closures rather than attempting to follow an old route description around them.

Getting back to your ship

If visiting a winery, arrange the visit and return transport beforehand. A wine-producing destination does not imply that individual estates admit visitors without an appointment.

Practical Information

Use euros; French is the official language. Dial 112 in an emergency. Keep your ship's local contact number and tender instructions with you.

Carry water and sun protection, with footwear suited to your chosen walk. Current boat and rail schedules, beach supervision and trail access should be checked through official information. Leave time to return from the beach, gather belongings and queue for the tender.
