Ocean-going cruise ships berth at Pointe de Floride. The metropolitan authority lists the Roger Meunier, Pierre Callet and Joannes Couvert quays. These are separate from the inner-city facilities used by river-cruise vessels.
The walking figure is Cunard's terminal-to-station estimate. Allow extra time from your individual berth and follow the authorised passenger exit through the port.
The official cruise information lists a taxi rank and terminal-to-centre shuttles. Note your ship's shuttle drop-off and last return arrangements at the terminal.
About this port
Le Havre is a worthwhile destination in its own right, particularly for modern architecture and painting. Its rebuilt centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a local day can combine that streetscape with Saint-Joseph church, the MuMa art museum and a waterfront walk.
Decide early between staying in Le Havre and taking a long excursion. Paris needs a substantial journey in each direction and is better treated as an organised full-day programme where the ship's call allows it. A few hours ashore are enough to begin exploring Le Havre without spending most of them in transport.
Getting Around
Once in the centre, connect the main architectural sights on foot, adding a bus or tram for a longer journey. The metropolitan authority identifies the railway station area as an interchange for local transport, regional coaches and trains. It is not the cruise terminal.
LiA's C4 route serves St François, outside the cruise port, and Gares. Its €1.80 one-way ticket allows transfers on the LiA network within one hour, checked 2026-09-08; validate it again when changing vehicles. The stop is part of the city network, so walking out of the cruise terminal comes first.
A practical local route starts with the rebuilt centre and Saint-Joseph, then adds the waterfront and MuMa if their opening arrangements fit. There is no need to commit to every stop: shorten the walk when you reach your chosen return time.
For an excursion beyond Le Havre, check the complete outward and return journey using the operator's current information. Allow for getting between the station and the ship as well as the long-distance service itself.
Things to Do
Look closely at the rebuilt city. UNESCO recognises the coherent urban plan and innovative use of concrete developed by Auguste Perret's team after the Second World War. Walk through the central streets and squares, noticing how the buildings, colonnades and open spaces relate to one another.
Go inside Saint-Joseph when visitor access permits. Its lantern tower combines exposed concrete with coloured glass by Marguerite Huré. The interior is the reason to pause here rather than simply photograph the tower from outside. Check the tourist office's church information and respect ceremonies.
Choose MuMa for an art visit. The Musée d'art moderne André Malraux has a substantial collection of modern painting, including Impressionist works. Its displays change as works are loaned or rehung, so avoid planning around one painting without checking first. Consult the museum's programme for current displays and visitor links.
If time is limited, the rebuilt centre plus either the church or museum makes a satisfying programme. Keep the final part of the day free for the return shuttle.
Getting back to your ship
For an excursion beyond Le Havre, check the complete outward and return journey using the operator's current information. Allow for getting between the station and the ship as well as the long-distance service itself.
Practical Information
French is the local language and the currency is the euro (€). The emergency number is 112.
Bring a windproof or waterproof layer for exposed quays and waterfront walks. Carry the ship's berth name as well as “cruise terminal” for a taxi return. Check attraction opening information for your visit date; avoid assuming the terminal's facilities or a shuttle will remain available after the ship's advertised return deadline.
