Fred. Olsen marks Narsarsuaq as an anchor port with a tender transfer. The harbour pilot also describes a projecting pier with different berthing faces and tourist-boat pontoons on its eastern side; on the western side it records alongside capacity for vessels up to 205 metres. That capacity does not establish normal cruise berthing.

Use the ship's daily programme for the passenger landing and the pickup point for any vehicle or boat excursion. The pilot warns of strong currents and wind at the pier.

About this port

Narsarsuaq lies near the head of Tunulliarfik Fjord in South Greenland. Its former airbase, local museum and arboretum give a town visit a different focus from the fjord excursions available here. Decide early whether to stay around the settlement or spend the call on one organised outing.

Getting Around

Visit Greenland describes Narsarsuaq as a small settlement normally explored on foot and identifies Blue Ice Café as its tourist information centre. It also identifies an airport–harbour bus. Hotel Narsarsuaq's operator advertises a separate hotel shuttle for its guests between the hotel, airport and port.

Things to Do

For a short call, start with the museum’s airbase and Norse-history displays, subject to opening. An arboretum walk can add time outdoors among the research plantings. Ask locally which path and turnaround point fit your available time.

The longer glacier walk and a Qooroq Fjord boat trip are separate alternatives. The glacier trail extends through valleys and uphill to a viewpoint; it should not be presented as a casual stroll from the pier. For a boat outing, confirm the meeting pontoon, duration and return before booking. Keep the museum and a shorter walk as the fallback if disembarkation is delayed.

Getting back to your ship

We haven't written separate return advice for this port yet. The arrival section and getting around cover the routes back.
