Overview
Check the island and the port name before planning a Canary Islands call. Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma are different destinations; Tenerife also has the separate port of Los Cristianos. A convenient town walk at one harbour says little about access at another.
Use this overview to identify the arrival pattern, then confirm your ship's berth, transfer and return arrangements before choosing an outing.
Ports in This Region
Ports where the terminal choice matters
- Arrecife, Lanzarote: the cruise operator lists Naos and Los Mármoles as separate terminals. Check which one serves your ship before choosing a walk or transfer; do not apply one terminal's city distance to the other.
- Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: the operator identifies cruise berths at Santa Catalina. Start your route from that terminal and check the distance to your chosen district before deciding to walk.
- Santa Cruz de Tenerife: the port's cruise brochure identifies berths on the South Dock and Ribera. The length of the pier forms part of the journey into town; confirm the exit or transfer appropriate to your berth.
Other island-capital calls
- Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura: ships dock at the cruise terminal in the island capital. The operator gives a general centre distance of 500 metres, which is an orientation figure rather than a measurement from every gangway. A local visit is a reasonable short-call choice.
- Santa Cruz de La Palma: the authority documents cruise berths serving the capital. Keep a town visit separate from an island excursion, and confirm the walk out of the port.
- San Sebastián de La Gomera: the authority documents alongside cruise facilities near the town. Establish the return route before leaving for any excursion elsewhere on the island.
Arrivals needing a different plan
- La Estaca, El Hierro: the authority documents an alongside cruise berth and a shared passenger terminal. Its cruise protocol identifies Dique Este as a passenger collection area. Valverde requires an inland journey; arrange transport rather than expecting a capital-city walk from the quay.
- Los Cristianos, Tenerife: the authority's cruise brochure explicitly identifies offshore anchorage and a pier for ship tenders. Allow for tender transfers and follow the ship's instructions, including the last tender back. This is a separate arrival from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
