Arrival & Getting Ashore
Getting to the centre: Tunadal harbour is the cruise landing and Stenstan is the central sightseeing area; the port has not published a cruise-passenger gate from which a reliable distance can be measured.
- Walk: not realistic; controlled working port, no public route.
Sources: Sveriges Radio, Sundsvall port terminal maps.
Sveriges Radio reported Seven Seas Voyager alongside at Tunadal on 20 August 2025. An earlier report also places Silver Spirit alongside at Tunadal on 1 August 2018, supporting dock access as the normal documented pattern.
Use the authorised passenger exit and the city transfer arranged for the call, or a pre-booked vehicle meeting at that exit. The terminal is an ISPS-controlled cargo facility rather than a public waterfront promenade.
About this port
Sundsvall's Stenstan, or Stone City, is the most useful focus for a short visit. The municipality traces the district's rebuilding to the destructive fire of 1888. A walk through its streets can be paired with Kulturmagasinet for an indoor stop.
Cruise ships have docked at Tunadal harbour, outside the central sightseeing area. The working port's passenger exit and city transfer are assigned for each call.
Getting Around
Once in central Sundsvall, concentrate on Stenstan and Kulturmagasinet. Note the named drop-off and return meeting point before leaving the transfer vehicle, and allow time to get back there after your walk.
Din Tur's public network serves the wider Tunadal area, but its city map does not place a passenger stop inside the cruise landing. Start a public-transport journey only after reaching the authorised port exit.
Things to Do
Stenstan: use Storgatan and its surrounding streets as the focus of an architectural walk. The municipality describes the stone-built centre as the legacy of rebuilding after the 1888 fire. This is a flexible option when the transfer leaves only a modest amount of time ashore.
Kulturmagasinet: the municipal cultural centre at Packhusgatan 4 houses Sundsvall's museum and library. Check its visitor page for the exhibitions and opening arrangements on your date. It is an indoor alternative to spending the whole visit walking through the centre.
For a short call, keep the outing within central Sundsvall. Add a destination farther afield only once the round-trip transport and time ashore are clear.
Getting back to your ship
Once in central Sundsvall, concentrate on Stenstan and Kulturmagasinet. Note the named drop-off and return meeting point before leaving the transfer vehicle, and allow time to get back there after your walk.
Practical Information
Currency: Swedish krona (SEK). Carry a payment card. Call 112 in an emergency.
Kulturmagasinet publishes its current opening arrangements on its visitor page. Passengers who need an accessible transfer vehicle should arrange one as part of the call's port transport.
