About this port

Bodrum works well with one substantial visit and time left for the waterfront. The castle contains the Museum of Underwater Archaeology; the separate Mausoleum site offers another view of ancient Halicarnassus. For a few hours ashore, choose which matters most before adding a peninsula excursion.

Getting Around

Use the waterfront for a town visit and keep a record of the route back to the cruise terminal. Allow extra walking time for your assigned pier, and carry water in hot weather.

The port lists taxis and private transfers as options. If you take a vehicle farther around the peninsula, agree a return pickup as well as an outward ride. For a short call, the castle and waterfront are a more flexible plan than multiple stops by road.

Things to Do

  • Underwater archaeology in the castle: the museum displays shipwreck finds within the 15th-century fortress built by the Knights Hospitaller. Allow the museum to be your main visit; check the Ministry's visitor page before setting off.
  • Mausoleum site: this is the archaeological location of Mausolus's tomb, associated with the ancient Seven Wonders. The national tourism board explains that stone from the ruined monument was reused in the castle. Visit for that connection rather than expecting an intact tomb building.
  • Harbour time: leave the last part of the outing for the waterfront's cafés and boats, so the day can be shortened without cancelling a distant return transfer.

Practical Information

Türkiye uses the Turkish lira. Ask a business which payment methods it accepts. For emergencies dial 112.

The port says wheelchair assistance is available. Request it through the ship before arrival and separately check the museum's access arrangements; terminal assistance does not establish an accessible castle circuit. Carry water and sun protection for the walk.
