Arrival & Getting Ashore

Getting to the centre: From the Hinode cruise berths, reach JR Shimizu Station by bus from Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan or by the free shuttle from nearby S-Pulse Dream Plaza.

  • Walk: the national port guide gives about five minutes between the port and Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan. It is a practical connection to the public bus network; allow separately for leaving your ship and berth.
  • Shuttle: S-Pulse Dream Plaza runs a free shuttle to JR Shimizu Station. It is the shopping complex's shuttle, so walk to Dream Plaza first; the station stop is at the Minato, or east, exit. Buses can be delayed or full.
  • Public transport: Shizutetsu's Miho Yamanote Line links Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan with JR Shimizu Station. Use the station-bound service; the operator groups that direction under Yokosuna/Tadanuma. For the return towards Miho, use stop 3 at the station's Ejiri, or west, exit.

Ships dock at Hinode No. 1 or No. 2. Note your berth and return entrance before setting off; the terminal's tourist information can help you find the waterfront sights and bus stop.

Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan is a bus stop, not a railway station. JR Shimizu Station is a separate onward destination.

About this port

Shimizu offers a port day around seafood, a waterfront promenade and views towards Mount Fuji. Stay around Hinode and S-Pulse Dream Plaza for an easy waterfront visit, head to Kashi-no-Ichi for a seafood meal, or make the Miho pine grove your main outing. The grove needs a separate bus or water-bus journey, so choose it around your ship's return time.

Getting Around

Dream Plaza and Marine Park are near Hinode, so a local waterfront visit doesn't need a trip to the station.

For the station and fish market, the Dream Plaza shuttle is another choice alongside the public bus. Its east-exit stop is on the market side of JR Shimizu Station; the Miho Yamanote bus leaves from the west side. Save the shuttle information or the public-bus timetable for the service you use.

For Miho, the tourism board's route starts with a Miho Yamanote Line bus towards Miho Shako from Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan. Get off at Miho Matsubara Iriguchi after about fifteen minutes, then walk about five minutes to Miho Shrine and another ten along the pine-lined approach to the grove. These are approximate bus and walking times, before waiting or exploring, checked 30 October 2026.

Things to Do

  • Dream Plaza and Marine Park: combine sushi restaurants and shops with a walk along the green waterfront promenade. Chibi Maruko-chan Land and the Ferris wheel add choices for families, without another transport connection.
  • A harbour cruise: Mt. Fuji Shimizu Minato Cruise makes round trips from Hinode with views towards Fuji and the Miho pine grove. Choose a departure from the current visitor information, allowing time afterwards to walk from the sightseeing landing to your ship.
  • Kashi-no-Ichi fish market: seafood restaurants in Magurokan and fish stalls in Ichiba-kan make this a good lunch outing. The official visitor page gives a three-minute walk from JR Shimizu Station's east exit to the market. It lists Wednesday and occasional closures, with some restaurants excepted; use the market visitor information when choosing your day. Closure information checked 30 October 2026.
  • Miho no Matsubara: walk among the seaside pines and visit the Mihoshirube centre to learn about the grove's links with Mount Fuji. Go by the bus route above, or take the water bus from Hinode to Miho. The latter is about 35 minutes outward, followed by about 30 minutes on foot to Mihoshirube; the water-bus return from Miho to Hinode is about 15 minutes. Those different sailing times reflect a clockwise route via Ejiri. Times checked against the visitor centre's access FAQ on 30 October 2026. A boat arrival at Miho is not an arrival at the pine grove.

Getting back to your ship

Getting back: from Dream Plaza, Marine Park or the harbour-cruise landing, walk back to your assigned Hinode berth. A sightseeing boat's arrival time is not your ship's boarding time.

From Kashi-no-Ichi, walk back to JR Shimizu Station's east exit for the Dream Plaza shuttle, then walk from the complex to your berth. For the public bus, go to stop 3 at the west/Ejiri exit and take a Miho Yamanote Line bus towards Miho or Orito, getting off at Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan.

From Mihoshirube, retrace the roughly fifteen-minute approach to Miho Matsubara Iriguchi and take a station-bound bus back to Hatoba Verkehr Hakubutsukan. If returning by water bus, first allow the roughly thirty-minute walk back to Miho landing, then the fifteen-minute sailing to Hinode and the final walk to your cruise berth. Choose the return sailing before starting the outing.

Count walking, waits, the ride and boarding against your ship's all-aboard time. A full shuttle or a missed water bus can change the plan; avoid the last possible connection.

Practical Information

Keep your cruise berth name with you. The round-trip harbour cruise, Miho water bus and Suruga Bay ferry to Toi are different services; choose the one you intend to take.
