The Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft identifies Ostpreußenkai as a cruise berth in central Travemünde, opposite the museum ship Passat. Its published vessel limit is 200 metres. For a call here, local sightseeing can begin after the terminal exit without an inter-town transfer.

If the ship names Skandinavienkai, follow the arranged passenger route through that separate working terminal. Its public transport stop is Skandinavienkai Terminal, at the Hafenhaus. The railway station called Lübeck-Travemünde Skandinavienkai is not the terminal entrance; use the current terminal bus routes described below.

A call advertised as Lübeck may instead use Burgtorkai, which the port identifies as a smaller cruise berth in Lübeck itself. Confirm the name on the cruise line's arrival instructions rather than assuming every Lübeck itinerary lands in Travemünde.

About this port

Travemünde offers two different kinds of shore day: stay by the Trave waterfront and seaside promenades, or travel inland to Lübeck's historic centre. The latter needs time for both transfers. Establish the berth first, because Ostpreußenkai and Skandinavienkai give very different starting points.

Getting Around

For Lübeck from central Travemünde, compare the rail journey from Travemünde Hafen or Travemünde Strand with bus 30. The €3.60 one-way Stadt Lübeck ticket also covers local trains within the city, including Travemünde (checked 8 September 2026). Plan onwards from Lübeck Hauptbahnhof to the historic centre as well as the ride between towns.

For Skandinavienkai, the tourism board's directions checked on 8 September 2026 identify bus 50 between the terminal and Lübeck ZOB/Hauptbahnhof during its operating periods. Other times require a connection. Bus 35 links Travemünde with the Hafenhaus during weekday daytime service. Use the dated timetable for the return connection; the former route 36 no longer runs.

Crossing to Priwall for Passat involves a local ferry across the Trave. Keep this crossing in the plan even when the museum ship appears directly opposite the berth.

Things to Do

A local call: walk the Travemünde waterfront and choose whether to cross to the Priwall promenade for Passat. Check the museum ship's visitor opening arrangements before paying for the crossing solely to go aboard. A view from the waterfront remains an alternative.

A Lübeck call: give the historic centre the main block of shore time. UNESCO lists the Hanseatic City of Lübeck; this designation does not make Travemünde itself part of the listed old town. Choose a focused walk in the historic centre and allow time to reach the return station or pickup point.

For a short Ostpreußenkai call, the local waterfront option leaves fewer connections to manage. From Skandinavienkai, even that outing needs the terminal transfer.
