Rostock Port identifies P1–P4, P7 and P8 as Warnemünde berths, and LP31 and LP41 as Seehafen berths. Cruise ships berth alongside. Read the berth code as well as the destination name in the ship's arrival instructions.
For a Warnemünde berth, follow the passenger exit towards the town and station; the precise route depends on which quay the ship uses. For a Seehafen berth, confirm the ship's transfer or taxi pickup point before setting out. Do not assume that a map showing “Rostock port” places you within the Warnemünde seaside district.
About this port
A Warnemünde call offers a choice between a seaside walk and a visit to central Rostock. The useful first decision is whether the ship is actually at Warnemünde or at Rostock's Seehafen. These are separate arrival areas, and instructions for the railway station beside Warnemünde's cruise facilities do not cover a Seehafen berth.
Getting Around
The port confirms an S-Bahn connection between Warnemünde station and Rostock Hauptbahnhof. For the historic centre, plan the onward connection or walk from your chosen city station as part of the journey. Use the Verkehrsverbund Warnow planner for the complete route, including any tram or bus leg and the return to the correct port area.
Buy a ticket valid for the whole journey. Before boarding, check whether it needs validating and follow the instructions for that ticket; do not assume that buying it completes every required step.
For a short Warnemünde call, staying around Alter Strom and the beach leaves fewer connections to manage. From Seehafen, even a seaside visit requires a separate transfer. The terminal's ground-level access describes the shore facilities; ship gangway arrangements are separate.
Things to Do
Seaside option: use Alter Strom, the small streets of Warnemünde and the beach as a flexible local outing. Decide how far to continue according to the time left for returning through the terminal, rather than treating a beach walk as having a fixed duration.
Rostock option: make St Mary's Church (Marienkirche) the focus of a city visit. Its astronomical clock combines a time display with calendar and astronomical information. Visitor entry is through the west portal on the tower side. The church asks visitors to check for services and other restrictions; sightseeing is not available during worship.
Choose one of these as the main plan for a short call. A city trip can absorb both station transfers and the attraction visit before there is time left for Warnemünde.
