The Felison Cruise Terminal is at Cruiseboulevard 10. Its operator identifies the Monnickendam Quay and Volendam Quay as cruise berths in the outer harbour, with direct North Sea access. This is an alongside arrival; use the ship's designated route through the terminal.

Felison's other terminal handles the DFDS Newcastle ferry. Give a driver the terminal name and address printed in your cruise documents rather than simply “Felison”. If the documents specify a different berth, the Cruiseboulevard directions below may not apply.

The terminal's transport desk sells a direct Amsterdam transfer only as part of a sightseeing package. Public transport to Amsterdam Centraal takes roughly 60–75 minutes one way, including the onward connection from Sloterdijk; a road transfer to central Amsterdam takes about 30–40 minutes in ordinary conditions.

About this port

IJmuiden is a coastal gateway to Amsterdam, with cruise berths in the outer harbour. The practical choice is between a transfer to Amsterdam or Haarlem and a local visit around IJmuiden aan Zee. Use the full terminal name when arranging a pickup: Felison operates separate cruise and ferry facilities.

For a short call, the coast leaves more flexibility. An Amsterdam outing needs time for both transfers, any interchange and the journey from the city drop-off to your chosen attraction.

Getting Around

Public transport to Amsterdam: Connexxion route 382 links Badweg with Amsterdam Sloterdijk; the official terminal directions place Badweg across the dike from the cruise terminal. Sloterdijk is not central Amsterdam, so use the onward rail, metro, tram or bus connection included in the terminal's 60–75-minute estimate.

The signed route to Badweg crosses the dike by stairs about 40 metres from the stop. Travellers who cannot use stairs need a road transfer from the terminal.

Direct road transfer: a prearranged vehicle avoids changing transport at Sloterdijk and lets you specify the destination. Compare a quote with any ship transfer using the same pickup and return points. Traffic and boarding time mean that a published driving estimate is not the complete terminal-to-attraction journey.

Haarlem: Felison also identifies Haarlem as an excursion destination closer to the terminal than Amsterdam. It is an alternative destination for a road transfer, not an extra stop to add automatically to an Amsterdam visit.

Things to Do

  • Stay on the coast: IJmuiden aan Zee beach adjoins Marina Seaport IJmuiden and has beach pavilions. Use the municipal tourism map to plan the route from the terminal. A waterfront walk with a meal is an outing you can shorten if the call starts late.
  • A city visit: choose Amsterdam or Haarlem and make one area or one booked attraction the focus. Establish the return transport before buying a timed entry ticket. For Amsterdam, an onward trip from Sloterdijk must be included in the plan.
  • Beach orientation: Strand Noordpier is on the other side of the North Sea Canal, reached via Wijk aan Zee. From the Cruiseboulevard terminal, use IJmuiden aan Zee rather than the northern beach as the local destination.

Getting back to your ship

Return point: save the terminal address and your driver's or transfer operator's instructions. Keep a margin before all-aboard for the final walk and security.

Practical Information

  • Currency: euro (€).
  • Emergencies: call 112 for urgent police, fire or ambulance assistance.
  • Return point: save the terminal address and your driver's or transfer operator's instructions. Keep a margin before all-aboard for the final walk and security.
