Cruise passengers disembark alongside at Buenavista Quay. The Port Authority describes a commercial quay adapted for passenger calls, with a fenced embarkation area and controlled access. It is not a dedicated passenger-terminal building.
Coaches and taxis can reach the disembarkation area. Use the ship's transfer or a pre-arranged vehicle and agree both the city drop-off and return collection. Give an independent driver the name Buenavista, Port of Pasaia, rather than simply “San Sebastián harbour”.
About this port
This guide covers Pasaia, the commercial port serving Donostia–San Sebastián. The Port Authority places the city about 5 km away. Confirm that Pasaia is your actual arrival port before using these directions; the small fishing harbour beside San Sebastián's old town is a different place.
Getting Around
Euskotren E2 takes about 15 minutes from Pasaia station to Donostia-Amara. The occasional one-zone ticket is €1.95 one way. The published port guidance does not establish a passenger walking route from inside Buenavista to the station, so use the rail only when port staff direct passengers to a suitable exit and approach.
Once in San Sebastián, keep the visit within one central walking area. The tourism authority's old-town route identifies a steep street down to the fishing quay, so passengers avoiding gradients should check that section before including the harbour.
Things to Do
- Old-town focus: explore Parte Vieja around Plaza de la Constitución and choose a pintxos stop. Keep the return collection point easy to reach instead of filling every spare minute with another sight.
- Waterfront focus: choose a suitable stretch of La Concha and the area near the Town Hall. Decide where to turn back based on your transfer time.
- Museum option: San Telmo, beside the old town, covers Basque society and history. Check its visitor arrangements before substituting it for the outdoor walk.
Getting back to your ship
Return: allow for the drive back to Pasaia and its controlled port entrance.
Practical Information
- Currency: euro (€). Emergency: 112, free.
- Mobility: arrange assistance at the working quay in advance. La Concha's beach-access services do not imply that every route reaches the water's edge; consult the tourism authority's specific access information.
- Return: allow for the drive back to Pasaia and its controlled port entrance.
