Orientation, not a walking route

Amasra has an international passenger port where ships can berth alongside. The district governorate records international passenger permission from 23 June 2021, so a blanket tender-only description is no longer accurate.
The same authority distinguishes the harbour's 210-metre quay from the passenger pier built later. That figure is not the length of the assigned cruise berth or a maximum ship size. Use the controlled exit and return point given in the ship's daily programme.
About this port
Amasra suits passengers who want to spend their available hours in one small Black Sea town. Its museum and linked castle districts give a local day a clear focus. Safranbolu is a separate inland excursion: choose it instead of trying to fit it around a visit to Amasra.
Getting Around
For a short call, plan a town walk with the museum as an optional indoor stop. The castle is divided between Boztepe and the mainland's Zindan district, connected by a bridge. Decide how much of the fortifications you want to explore before extending the walk uphill or away from your return route.
Safranbolu needs a separate road journey. The national tourism board presents Amasra and Safranbolu as a two-day touring combination, so it should be treated as a full organised excursion rather than an addition to a town walk.
Things to Do
- Amasra Museum: archaeological finds and Ottoman household objects provide context for the town. The collections include local woodwork as well as material recovered from the sea.
- Castle districts and connecting bridge: explore the relationship between the two fortified areas. The regional tourism directorate documents Roman fabric and substantial Genoese repairs in the 14th and 15th centuries.
- Safranbolu, for a longer organised day: UNESCO recognises the Ottoman town and its role in caravan trade. Choose an excursion that states its historic-district stops and complete return itinerary.

Practical Information
Use Turkish lira for local spending. Ask about payment methods before ordering or buying. 112 is the national emergency number.
Wear shoes suited to wet stone. Astoria Grande does not recommend its Amasra city walking excursion for passengers with limited walking mobility; the route includes the castle and Boztepe. Keep enough time to return through the passenger port's checks.
