Star Clippers includes Astypalea in Star Flyer's 2027 programme, confirming that the island is a small-ship cruise destination. The normal landing harbour and dock-versus-tender method remain unresolved; use the ship's daily programme for the actual harbour, return point and last tender time.
The South Aegean tourism authority identifies Pera Gialos as a municipal marina and Agios Andreas as the new port. For an Agios Andreas arrival, ASTYBUS lists the port connection in a separate fare zone at €5 one way, checked 2026-09-08.
About this port
Astypalea's Chora occupies a hill between the old harbour area of Pera Gialos and Livadi. Its castle and windmills make it a natural focus for a short visit. Pera Gialos and Agios Andreas are separate arrival facilities.
Getting Around
The official sustainable-island programme describes ASTYBUS, an electric shared shuttle booked through the astyMOVE app. Select the named pickup and destination stops in the app; it supplies the pickup estimate for the shared ride. Both Pera Gialos Port and the Windmills are in zone 2; Agios Andreas Port is in zone 4.
Chora's hillside streets require walking even if a vehicle takes you part of the way. Choose a drop-off and meeting point that you can reach comfortably on the return. If app-based transport cannot provide a suitable journey, arrange the excursion's transport before leaving the ship.
Things to Do
- Chora: Make the windmill square and surrounding lanes the core of a short visit, with views towards the hilltop castle. This walking plan does not depend on admission to the castle interior.
- Livadi: The national tourism board describes a seaside settlement with a beach, tavernas and cafés on the other side of Chora's hill. Treat it as an alternative focus rather than assuming time for a full island circuit.
- Pera Gialos: For a landing here, staying near the old harbour keeps the return simple.
Getting back to your ship
Chora's hillside streets require walking even if a vehicle takes you part of the way. Choose a drop-off and meeting point that you can reach comfortably on the return. If app-based transport cannot provide a suitable journey, arrange the excursion's transport before leaving the ship.
