For Souda, follow the ship's directions from the assigned berth to the passenger exit or transfer vehicle. The Chania Prefecture Port Fund manages Souda and puts Chania 7 km from the cruise port in its facilities sheet. The Hellenic Ports Association describes its cruise quays and passenger facilities. Do not arrange to meet the ship at the Venetian harbour in Chania.

For a tender call labelled Chania, use your ship's daily programme for the actual landing and last tender time. Seabourn's tender-port list establishes this operation for that cruise line but does not identify a fixed quay; Souda bus directions apply only to a Souda landing.

About this port

Souda has cruise quays and is a separate port from Chania's old Venetian harbour. Some operators also list Chania as a tender destination. A Souda call needs a road transfer for the old town; a tender call needs its own landing and return instructions.

Getting Around

Chania Urban Buses lists line 13 for Souda Port. Consult its route and timetable page, checking the correct day and direction. Identify the return stop when you arrive in Chania. Allow time to reach the stop from the assigned passenger exit.

A taxi or a transfer arranged through the ship reduces the number of connections; ask where it drops off and collects passengers. For a short visit, keep the programme in the old town after reaching Chania rather than adding another district automatically.

Things to Do

  • Old town and Venetian harbour: Combine the waterfront with nearby streets, leaving time to get back to the agreed bus stop or pickup point.
  • Archaeological Museum of Chania: The museum is at 15 Skra Street in Halepa (Chalepa). It is a separate destination from the former museum in the old town. Choose it as the main visit or allow an additional transfer; the museum publishes visitor information for this address.
  • Minoan context: Kydonia is one of the six sites in the Minoan Palatial Centres World Heritage property, inscribed in 2025. That listing does not mean all excavations are open for a casual walk-through.
