The cruise jetty, known as Bastouni, is distinct from the Argostoli–Lixouri ferry facility farther south near the port authority offices. The port fund describes alongside cruise berthing at the northern part of the jetty as the normal arrangement; the Hellenic Ports Association also lists anchorage capacity.

The exact tender landing and permitted pedestrian exit remain matters for the ship's instructions. Establish the return point before arranging a pickup; neither the ferry quay nor a generic harbour map pin is a substitute. If tendering, record the last tender departure rather than using the ship's sailing time as your deadline.

About this port

Argostoli offers a useful choice between a town day and an excursion to the Sami area. Staying in the capital lets you explore the waterfront and the De Bosset Bridge without arranging an island circuit. Melissani Cave adds road travel and a separate boat visit; make it the main outing if it is your priority.

Getting Around

The Hellenic Ports Association gives 800 m from the cruise port to the town centre. A waterfront visit is the simplest independent option, with the length of the walk determined by the actual exit and your chosen turning point.

Melissani lies near Karavomilos, northwest of Sami. Arrange the outward and return road journeys together. A vehicle booking does not account for time waiting to enter the cave or board its boats, so leave room for those stages and reduce optional stops if the day starts late.

Things to Do

  • De Bosset Bridge and Koutavos Lagoon: The bridge separates the lagoon from Argostoli Bay. Use the town end as a waterfront destination; a visit need not include the full crossing or a circuit of the lagoon.
  • Central Argostoli: Combine the waterfront with the streets behind it and a meal. This is the more flexible choice if time ashore is short.
  • Melissani Cave: Visitors descend through a tunnel to a pier for the boat visit inside the lake cave. Ask about boarding and the sloping approach if mobility is limited.
