Nydri is a tender call in Seabourn's published port guidance. Expect a boat transfer between the anchored ship and shore. The ship's briefing gives the actual landing, boarding assistance and final return departure.

The harbour is part of Nydri's built-up waterfront, so a local visit can start on foot once you have landed there.

Save the ship's contact details and take note of a landmark at the return landing. A central waterfront visit gives you scope to shorten the day if transfers take longer than expected.

About this port

Nydri, also spelt Nidri, is a resort and boating centre on Lefkada's eastern coast. Small islands occupy the water offshore, including Skorpios, formerly owned by Aristotle Onassis. Cafés and tavernas make the waterfront a place to pause, while the Dimosari gorge offers a contrasting outing inland.

For a few hours ashore, choose a waterfront day or one excursion: the waterfalls, the area around Geni, or Lefkada town. The island's capital is a separate destination reached by road. Combining it with a gorge walk or a boat trip introduces extra journeys that need to fit around your ship's return deadline.

Getting Around

Walk for a local look around Nydri. For journeys further afield, plan road transport before setting out and agree the fare and return pickup if using a taxi.

KTEL Lefkadas links Nydri with Lefkada town, via Nikiana and Lygia. The operator distinguishes Nydri's town-hall stop, labelled “Dimarcheio”, from departures specifically labelled for the harbour. Most listed departures use Dimarcheio; the harbour is a distinct stop. Consult the current local routes for both directions and leave a return margin. KTEL's island-wide single fares are €2.20–€4.20 one way (checked 2026-09-08).

Visit Greece describes road access to a point about 4 km from Nydri, followed by a walk into the gorge towards the waterfalls. Arrange the return transport before starting the path and allow separately for the walk.

Things to Do

Stay by the water. Spend time along the harbour, watch the boats and choose somewhere for lunch. Local boat trips explore the offshore islands, but check the complete duration and return point before committing. A trip that occupies most of a holiday day may leave too little room for your final tender.

Visit Dimosari gorge and waterfalls. The shaded approach passes vegetation and pale rock. Wear shoes with grip and allow for uneven or slippery sections. Check current access and path conditions locally, particularly if you have limited mobility; water flow and swimming conditions also vary.

Explore towards Geni. The route around Vlycho Bay offers a different view back towards Nydri. Beyond Geni, a footpath leads to the church of Agia Kyriaki. This is a separate road-and-walk outing: establish the pickup arrangements and walking requirements before leaving town rather than treating the visible opposite shore as a quick waterfront extension.

Consider Lefkada town. The island capital has lanes, squares and distinctive colourful houses. Use it as the day's main excursion if you want a longer town walk. Check the bus return before settling down for lunch, or agree the return time with a driver.

Getting back to your ship

Practical Information

Greece uses the euro (€) and the official language is Greek. Dial 112 for an emergency. Carry drinking water and sun protection even when your destination includes shaded paths.

Keep enough time after any excursion to walk back to the landing and join the tender queue. Boat trips and the ship's shore transfer each need their own allowance in your plan.
