Cruise ships berth alongside at Vrulje or anchor outside Zablaće. The port authority identifies Zablaće for larger vessels, and cruise tender reception with onward buses is documented there.
Vrulje is the city's ferry and cruise terminal. Use the authorised pedestrian exit towards the old town and cathedral.
For a Zablaće landing, public bus 5 provides a scheduled local connection into Šibenik; its stop is Zablaće okretište, the village terminus. Keep the ship's actual tender destination, return collection point and final tender time with you.
About this port
Šibenik's waterfront gives access to a hillside old town, with the Cathedral of St James near the water and St Michael's Fortress above the streets. For a few hours ashore, make the cathedral and surrounding lanes your starting point, then choose one additional outing according to your energy and return deadline.
The city has two distinct UNESCO connections: the cathedral is an individually listed World Heritage property, while St Nicholas' Fortress belongs to the multinational Venetian Works of Defence listing. Visiting the latter involves a separate boat excursion, so the two are not interchangeable stops on a simple town walk.
Getting Around
Walking suits the waterfront and central sights, but the old town climbs through lanes and stairways. Choose a route that suits your mobility and the time available.
For St Michael's Fortress, the operator describes an access road from the fire-station side to a plateau and a lift serving the underground and stage levels. Contact the venue to confirm arrangements for your visit, and organise a suitable transfer to that approach if needed. This does not establish a continuous accessible route from your ship.
For a short call, choose between the uphill fortress and the organised boat visit to St Nicholas. Adding a road excursion as well leaves little flexibility for port transfers and queues.
Things to Do
At the Cathedral of St James, look at the stone construction and the exterior frieze of carved human faces before entering. UNESCO highlights the cathedral's combination of Gothic and Renaissance design and its stone vaulting and dome. The cathedral was inscribed in 2000. Give the adjacent streets time too: the setting is part of the experience, and a café pause keeps the visit manageable.
St Michael's Fortress offers a different perspective on the city and harbour. Its visitor programme includes interpretation of fortifications and of its modern role as an open-air performance venue. Check the operator's visitor page for current admission, opening and access information rather than assuming that a concert ticket and daytime entry are equivalent.
St Nicholas' Fortress guards the sea approach through St Anthony's Channel. The managing public institution requires visits by its organised boat. Boats leave from the Šibenik waterfront at the berth called Krka, near the junction of Obala hrvatske mornarice and Obala Dr Franje Tuđmana. Use the official excursion information and current timetable to judge whether the complete return trip fits your call.
Getting back to your ship

Practical Information
Croatia's currency is the euro (€) and its official language is Croatian. Call 112 in an emergency.
Bring grippy shoes and water for the climb through the old town. Allow for church services when planning cathedral entry, and check venue opening arrangements individually. If you arrive through Zablaće, build the return land transfer into your deadline as well as the tender queue.
