Trogir is a cruise destination in Ponant's port information, and Katarina Line starts coastal cruises from Trogir harbour as well as naming Marina Baotić on particular itineraries. Berthing is supported for those marina cruises; the evidence does not establish the normal dock-or-tender arrangement for other Trogir calls. Use your ship's daily programme for the landing, return collection point, mobility assistance and, on an anchorage call, the final tender time.

If you land on the old-town waterfront, you are already beside the historic centre; Marina Baotić is a separate arrival in Seget Donji. If your itinerary calls at Split and offers Trogir as an excursion, plan for the transfer from Split separately.

About this port

Trogir's historic centre occupies a small island between the mainland and Čiovo, linked by bridges. UNESCO inscribed the Historic City of Trogir in 1997, recognising the continuity of its street plan and the buildings added through successive periods. The cathedral, squares and waterfront fit a visit of a few hours without travelling to another town.

Give yourself time to look closely at the stonework. The tourism board's interpretation of masons' marks offers a useful theme for exploring: carvings and small details can be as interesting as the outline of a fortress or church tower.

Getting Around

Once you reach the historic island, walking makes sense for the principal sights. Combine the lanes around the cathedral with a waterfront circuit, adjusting the route for steps and the condition of the paving. Tower climbs are optional, and the small scale of the centre does not make every interior accessible.

Promet route 37 links Trogir, Split Airport and Split. Use the operator's route page for current departures and check your boarding stop. For a short direct call at Trogir, travelling to Split adds waiting and road time that would otherwise be available in the old town.

If you want a taxi transfer beyond the centre, arrange a pickup location that a vehicle can reach and agree the return before departure.

Things to Do

Begin with the Cathedral of St Lawrence and Radovan's portal. The tourism board dates the portal to 1240. Spend time with the carved entrance before deciding which parts of the cathedral complex to enter. Its visitor-information page links current opening and ticket information; check the inclusions rather than assuming that one ticket covers every space.

Explore the surrounding squares, loggia and lanes at a slower pace. Look for the stone marks described in the tourism board's Following the masters' marks material, particularly around the cathedral and Church of St John the Baptist. This turns the walk into an examination of the city's craft history rather than a list of façades to photograph.

Continue towards Kamerlengo Fortress, on the south-western waterfront of the old-town island. The tourism board places its main construction in the fifteenth century. Check visitor arrangements if you want to enter; seeing the exterior and continuing along the Riva is a useful alternative when time is short.

Finish with a waterfront pause or a look at the market. Keep this last part flexible so you can return promptly if tender queues or the weather change your plans.

Practical Information

The currency is the euro (€) and the official language is Croatian. Dial 112 for emergencies.

Wear shoes with grip and carry water for time in the sun. Religious sites may restrict tourist entry during services. Check museum, fortress and church access individually, and keep the ship's return instructions available offline.

Frequently asked

How much is the boat from Marina Baotić to Trogir old town? €3 per person one way on the shared taxi boat to Trogir Riva. The marina lists departures every 20 minutes.

Where do Katarina Line cruises arrive in Trogir? Some itineraries name Marina Baotić in Seget Donji; others name Trogir harbour. The marina boat connection above applies to Marina Baotić arrivals.

Can you explore Trogir old town on foot? Yes. Once on the historic island, the cathedral, lanes and waterfront form a compact walking visit. Stone paving, steps and tower climbs need separate consideration for mobility.

Do cruise ships dock or tender at Trogir? Katarina Line's Marina Baotić itineraries use a berth. Other Trogir calls need the ship's named landing instructions because the normal dock-or-tender pattern is unresolved.
