The official tourism board identifies Steubenhöft as a landing used by cruise, ferry and coastal passenger vessels, at Lentzstraße 1. The nearby historic halls have separate visiting arrangements. Confirm your actual berth and the permitted passenger exit with the ship before setting out.

Follow the signed passenger route to public streets; do not plan a shortcut through the working harbour.

About this port

Cuxhaven rewards a day centred on the Elbe waterfront and its maritime history. A practical short-call plan is to establish your route out of the port, choose a waterfront walk or a museum visit, and leave the more distant coast for a separate excursion with arranged transport.

Steubenhöft is a verified cruise berth. Its historic passenger facilities and the nearby Hapag-Hallen should not be confused with the town's other visitor destinations or with a promise that every cruise uses the same exit.

Getting Around

Treat the waterfront and the fishery museum as destinations to locate on a map from your actual exit. Alte Liebe is the viewing platform at Bei der Alten Liebe; Windstärke 10 is at Ohlroggestraße 1 in the fishery-harbour area. A taxi arranged through the ship is a useful option if the permitted walking route is unsuitable for you.

For a short call, keep your plan within Cuxhaven. An outing to Hamburg or Bremen adds a station transfer and two rail journeys; neither is included in this local plan. Likewise, joining a boat excursion adds another departure and return time to reconcile with all-aboard.

Things to Do

  • Hapag-Hallen: the historic passenger halls interpret Cuxhaven's ocean-liner and emigration past. Check the official listing for guided access; being berthed nearby does not guarantee you can enter the halls at any time.
  • Alte Liebe: watch shipping on the Elbe from the waterfront viewing platform. This is a flexible outdoor option when a fixed museum or tour time does not suit the call.
  • Windstärke 10: the municipal wreck and fishing museum covers seafaring and the fishing industry. Its website lists a maintenance closure on 7 September 2026, checked on that date; consult its notices before visiting on another day.
