Cruise passengers use Bremerhaven Cruise Port at Columbuskaje 1, the terminal also known as Columbus Cruise Center. Ships berth alongside here, and the terminal operator confirms a taxi rank outside the main entrance. Keep this exact address for the return journey.

The published terminal-to-station shuttle operates in the morning for Phoenix and TUI calls; the station-to-terminal service runs in the afternoon via Havenwelten. Use the operator's timetable to match both journeys to your call, and identify the return stop before leaving the terminal. A taxi is an alternative outside those departure windows.

About this port

For a short Bremerhaven call, make the Havenwelten waterfront your destination and choose one substantial indoor visit: the German Emigration Center for migration history or Klimahaus for climate and geography. Both offer more to absorb than a quick stop between transfers. Bremen is a separate excursion and should not be added casually to this local plan.

Getting Around

Buy the Columbus day ticket from the shuttle driver; BREMERHAVEN BUS accepts cash and card, and a reservation is not required. Keep the ticket for your return and any city-bus journeys. For a taxi return, agree the collection point.

Once at Havenwelten, focus on the waterfront and your chosen museum. For a trip to Bremen, allow separately for getting between the cruise terminal and Bremerhaven Hauptbahnhof in both directions; a rail journey time alone does not describe the excursion. For a short call, staying in Bremerhaven gives you more control over the return.

Things to Do

  • Klimahaus: its main exhibition follows a journey around the world along longitude 8° east, using different climate environments. Choose this if you want an indoor experience centred on how people live with climate.
  • German Emigration Center: exhibitions address both emigration and immigration through personal migration histories. Check its visitor information and allow time to follow the exhibition rather than trying to fit two large museums into the same short visit.
  • Havenwelten waterfront: use an outdoor stroll as the flexible part of either museum plan. Leave time to find the return stop before settling down for a meal.

Practical Information

Currency: euro. Emergency help: 112 for fire/ambulance, 110 for police.

The terminal operator lists wheelchair assistance within the terminal; arrange the assistance, ship-gangway access and any booked mobility space through your cruise line in advance. Check museum opening information for your visit date.
