Both docking and tendering occur. Celebrity's port information describes berthing at Tourlos, while its published passenger letters also document calls using tenders. The Hellenic Ports Association lists cruise berths at the New Port and tender-related facilities at the Old Port.
For a Tourlos berth, follow the ship's directions to the passenger exit and transport. A sea-bus, bus or arranged shuttle is a practical way to conserve your walking time for the town.
If your ship anchors, use its assigned tender landing and return point. Do not assume the SeaBus is your ship's tender or that a ticket for one covers the other. Keep the final tender time and ship departure time clearly distinguished.
About this port
Mykonos offers a compact town walk once you have resolved the transfer from your ship. Chora, the island's main town, has waterfront lanes, shops and cafés, with Little Venice and the windmills forming a natural focus. A few hours can be spent here without adding a beach journey or another island.
Your arrival location determines the day. A berth at the New Port in Tourlos requires a transfer towards Chora, while a tender landing at the Old Port puts you closer to the town walk. Delos is a separate archaeological excursion with its own boat and admission arrangements.
Getting Around
The Mykonos SeaBus connects the New Port at Tourlos with the Old Port and Chora. Its operator identifies separate stops at the cruise dock and marina, plus the Old Port bus/taxi area and the Mykonos Town waterfront. Choose the cruise-dock stop for the return to a ship berthed at Tourlos.
Public buses also link the New Port and Old Port; the bus operator's timetable identifies this route. Save your ship shuttle's return collection point before exploring Chora.
Walk once in the historic centre. Narrow lanes and uneven paving reward a flexible route, with the waterfront as a useful landmark. The SeaBus operator advertises wheelchair access to its boats. If you need boarding assistance, arrange it for your sailing; the town's uneven surfaces remain a separate consideration.
Things to Do
Chora and the harbour. Start with the waterfront, then explore the lanes behind it. Build in time to browse or sit down, and keep track of your route back. The town itself can occupy the available shore time without a tightly scheduled excursion.
Little Venice and the windmills. The houses of Little Venice stand beside the water with projecting balconies; the windmills are nearby. Combine them in the same walk. Wind and sea spray can affect exposed spots, so choose a comfortable place to pause rather than crowding the water's edge.
Delos. UNESCO lists this neighbouring island's archaeological site as World Heritage. Its sanctuary and former trading settlement make it a substantial visit in its own right. Boats depart from the Old Port area; confirm both sailings, the boat's boarding deadline and the time required to return to your ship. Use Hellenic Heritage for current archaeological-site arrangements.
A beach outing. Consider a beach only after checking the transport in both directions. Paradise and Super Paradise are among the island’s beach destinations. Keep the beach plan simple if you also want time in Chora.
Getting back to your ship
Public buses also link the New Port and Old Port; the bus operator's timetable identifies this route. Save your ship shuttle's return collection point before exploring Chora.
