Plan for a tender transfer. Both Seabourn's tender-port list and Star Clippers' 2026 shore information identify Myrina as an anchorage call.

Use your ship's briefing to identify the landing, return point and any tender boarding assistance you need. Keep the last-tender time available throughout the day, and return with time for a queue.

About this port

Myrina, the main town of Lemnos, offers a manageable day of archaeology, waterfront walking and a castle climb. The fortress occupies the rocky peninsula above town; below it, streets around the market lead towards the harbour and the mansions of Romeikos Gialos. Lemnos also appears as Limnos on travel information.

For a short call, choose the castle or the archaeological museum as your main visit, then leave time for the seafront. Staying in Myrina makes it easier to adjust your plans after a late tender arrival. An excursion across the island needs a separate transport plan and should replace part of the town visit.

Getting Around

Walking suits the market, waterfront and central sights. The castle is a different undertaking: its climb adds effort to an otherwise modest town circuit. Start with the uphill visit while you are fresh, or leave it out and spend longer by the water.

For journeys beyond Myrina, arrange a taxi and agree the destination, waiting arrangements, price and return pickup before departure. Book ahead if you need a vehicle at the tender landing.

Things to Do

Explore the castle. Star Clippers gives about 20 minutes uphill from town to Myrina Castle. Its walls reflect successive Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman work. Wear shoes with grip for the rocky climb, carry water and allow time for the descent. The castle's heritage website explains the different structures; check local access notices before climbing.

Visit the Lemnos Archaeological Museum. On Romeikos Gialos, the museum brings together finds from Myrina and other island sites, including Poliochni, Hephaistia and the Kabeirion. It is a useful introduction to places that would require much more travelling to see individually. Check the Ephorate's visitor information for opening arrangements before building your day around admission.

Follow the waterfront to a beach. The municipality identifies Romeikos Gialos and Richa Nera as beaches reachable on foot from town. A waterfront stroll, a short swim if conditions suit, and a pause for lunch can fill the remainder of the call without an island transfer. Reassess the time before continuing further along the coast.

Getting back to your ship

Practical Information

Greece uses the euro (€) and the official language is Greek. Carry some cash for small purchases and confirm payment arrangements before taking a taxi. Shop and restaurant hours vary; check individually instead of relying on a general national timetable.

Dial 112 for an emergency. Take your ship's contact information, sun protection and drinking water ashore. Before sitting down to eat, check how much walking and tender time remains, particularly if you have spent longer than expected at the castle.
