Cruise ships dock in Bari's commercial port. The port authority identifies a second cruise terminal at berth 10; its May 2026 update described that building as nearing completion. Use the berth and exit instructions issued for your ship.

If walking is difficult, arrange a transfer and agree an exact return meeting point with the driver.

About this port

Bari Vecchia makes a practical focus for a short call: its castle, churches and lanes occupy the peninsula beside the port. Plan around the time available after reaching the city exit. Staying in Bari leaves more flexibility for an unhurried meal and an early return than adding an excursion outside the city.

Getting Around

AMTAB's 50, Circolare Porto serves Terminal Crociere and Stazione Marittima as separate stops. For Bari Vecchia, the same bus reaches S. Chiara fronte about 6 minutes after Terminal Crociere, before continuing to Bari Centrale. The currently linked operator timetable was checked on 2026-09-08; use the stop reached by your ship's passenger exit.

Once outside the port, keep a short visit within Bari Vecchia. Choose one church interior and a walk through the lanes; add the castle only if its admission arrangements fit. Piazza del Ferrarese, beside Lungomare Imperatore Augusto, is a useful waterfront pause before returning towards the port.

Things to Do

  • Piazza del Ferrarese: a square at the old-town edge with access to the seafront.
  • Castello Svevo: the fortress beside the historic centre; check the museum's current visitor information before planning an interior visit.
  • San Sabino and San Nicola: the cathedral and basilica are separate churches in Bari Vecchia. Pick one as the anchor of a short walk rather than making every interior compulsory.
San Sabino and San Nicola

San Sabino is Bari’s cathedral and an example of Apulian Romanesque architecture; San Nicola is a separate basilica that holds the relics of the city’s patron saint.
