Trondheim Havn's 2026 cruise manual identifies Kiskaia (Kis Quay) and Spillum as the cruise quays at Namsos. Ships berth alongside. The manual gives about 750 metres from Kiskaia to the town centre and 2.4 km from Spillum, so the berth makes a substantial difference to your day.
Use the assigned pedestrian exit. From Spillum, AtB route 783 provides a limited weekday connection from Namsen legesenter to Namsos skysstasjon; its published afternoon trip takes about ten minutes. Both quays serve working port areas, so follow port staff's directions rather than using cargo access roads as a shortcut.
About this port
Namsos brings together timber-industry history, regional culture and a strong connection with Norwegian rock music. For a short visit, choose one indoor attraction and combine it with the waterfront or a walk up Klompen, the low hill overlooking the town.
The town is a working port as well as a visitor destination. Kiskaia and Spillum are not interchangeable starting points, so use the quay named in the ship's daily programme.
Getting Around
Once in the centre, you can combine the waterfront, town streets and nearby cultural attractions on foot. Klompen adds a climb, while a visit to the Norwegian Sawmill Museum at Spillum is better treated as a separate outing with its own transport plan.
AtB is the regional public-transport source for routes and current departures. Check both outward and return journeys for any trip beyond central Namsos.
Things to Do
Namdal Museum. Namdalsmuseet, near central Namsos, presents regional life through historic buildings, objects and photographs. Check the operator's current opening and access arrangements before relying on entry to individual buildings.
Klompen. The regional tourism board identifies several walking approaches from town to the 114-metre hill, with views over Namsos from the top. Its published walking estimates describe the ascent, so allow additional time for the descent, stops and the return to your landing. Choose a route that matches your ability; rain can change the character of an otherwise modest climb.
Trønder Rock Museum, also known as Rock City. This attraction explores the local music story through displays and interactive activities. The tourism board's current listing says visits are by arrangement only, checked on 7 September 2026. Do not make it the day's only indoor plan unless entry has been confirmed.
Norwegian Sawmill Museum. At Spillum, the museum tells the industrial story behind the region's timber trade. It is a useful alternative for visitors interested in machinery and working heritage. The operator publishes seasonal access and offers arrangements outside ordinary opening; confirm both the visit and transport before leaving town.
Getting back to your ship
AtB is the regional public-transport source for routes and current departures. Check both outward and return journeys for any trip beyond central Namsos.
Practical Information
Use Norwegian kroner (NOK), with card payment widely accepted. Norwegian is spoken and English is commonly understood. Check the museums individually, as a tourism listing does not guarantee walk-in access on every day.
Carry a waterproof layer and shoes suited to the walk you choose. Keep the ship's exact quay name as well as its return time. Emergency numbers are 110 for fire, 112 for police and 113 for an ambulance.
