Arrival & Getting Ashore

  • Step-free: no; passengers arrive by expedition small boat onto a beach.

The current Appendix 6 map confirms Lloyd hotell – Regnardneset as a permitted tourist landing area in Nordvest-Spitsbergen National Park. This resolves the earlier guide's uncertainty about both the park and landing status. The map authorises a defined stretch of shore; it does not make every beach in Möllerhamna a tourist landing site.

Expect an expedition small-boat landing. The Norwegian Polar Institute identifies the east side of Regnardneset as the best landing place, while the expedition leader selects the actual point for the conditions. The ship's daily programme distinguishes this heritage landing from a viewing stop elsewhere in the fjord.

About this port

The operational reference for a visit to Möllerhamna is Lloyd hotell – Regnardneset, the name used on the official landing map. Möllerhamna is a bay within the inner part of Möllerfjorden, in the Krossfjorden area. Its distinctive shore feature is Lloyds hotell, a historic cabin associated with early cruise tourism. Despite its name, it should be treated as a protected heritage site, not somewhere to book accommodation or refreshments.

Getting Around

Ashore, follow the guide's route from the beach. Do not improvise a walk to neighbouring glacier fronts or treat the cabin as an unattended shelter for visitors. Enter only when the expedition guide opens the protected cabin as part of the visit.

Things to Do

A compact visit centres on the cabin and its place in the history of Svalbard tourism, with time to look across Möllerfjorden. This is more useful as an interpreted stop than as a long walk with a list of sights to complete.

The cabin's existing signs and markings are historical material. They are not an invitation to add a ship's name, leave a souvenir or move objects. If the landing is cancelled, the expedition team may offer a different activity.

Getting back to your ship

We haven't written separate return advice for this port yet. The arrival section and getting around cover the routes back.

Practical Information

  • Vessel limit: no more than 200 passengers aboard ships entering the national park's marine area, checked 2026-09-07. Landing a smaller group does not exempt a larger vessel.
  • Preparation: use the ship's facilities before leaving and follow the boat-boarding and footwear requirements in its briefing.
  • Heritage: leave the cabin and its contents as found. Follow the guide's instructions on access and distance from protected remains.
