Orientation, not a walking route

The port comprises Oritkari, Nuottasaari and Vihreäsaari. These are distinct harbour areas. AIDA identifies Oritkari for its cruise calls, and the port documents AIDAdiva alongside.

Obtain the assigned berth, passenger exit and transfer meeting point from your ship. The port's general safety instructions require authorised access and identify designated taxi pickup/drop-off points in Oritkari, reached by marked routes. Pedestrians must wear high-visibility clothing and a helmet and give way to mobile machinery.

Use the passenger reception route for your call; the cargo roads are working areas.

About this port

Oulu's Market Square offers a useful focus for a short town visit. Ocean cruise ships can berth alongside at the Port of Oulu, but the working harbour requires a separate plan for reaching town. Oritkari is the cruise harbour identified by AIDA; Market Square is a useful destination for the transfer.

Getting Around

The port lists OTAXI and FixuTaxi as taxi providers. Book through their apps and use the designated Oritkari pickup point. Ask for Market Square (Kauppatori) and agree the return pickup.

For a short stay, a local walk near the drop-off gives you a flexible turning-back point. Keep the return journey to the working harbour in your plan.

Things to Do

• Market Square: the Market Hall, old granaries and Toripolliisi policeman statue are grouped around the waterfront market area. Make this the centre of a shorter visit, checking individual businesses' opening arrangements rather than relying on generic shop hours.
• Tietomaa: currently closed. The science centre's own website now advertises reopening at Tiima on 9 October 2026, checked on 2026-09-07. This supersedes an older summer-2026 forecast. For calls before reopening, leave it out of the itinerary; for later calls, check that opening has actually occurred before booking transport.
