Ships dock at several cruise berths, including those along the Cristoforo Colombo ring road and at pier 25. Follow the terminal assignment from your cruise line; a single terminal map pin cannot identify every ship's exit.
The Largo della Pace shuttle and the direct Civitavecchia railway station bus go to different destinations. Join the queue for the route you need, especially on the return journey.
If you take the shuttle to Largo della Pace, the operator puts the remaining walk to the station at about 1.5 kilometres. The direct station bus avoids this walking stage, but you still need time to wait and board. Port Mobility describes its shuttles as accessible to people with disabilities; arrange any sailing-specific mobility assistance with your cruise line before you travel.
About this port
Civitavecchia is a separate coastal city connected to Rome by rail and road. A Rome outing has several stages: leave the berth, reach the station, travel to Rome, then get to your attraction. Choose your return train before you book an interior visit. On a short call, Civitavecchia's historic harbour gives you a plan with fewer transfers.
Getting Around
The FL5 rail route connects Civitavecchia with Roma San Pietro, Trastevere, Ostiense and Termini. Match the station to your destination and to the stops your actual train makes. Check with the railway operator for your travel date and ticket conditions; different ticket types carry different restrictions.
Plan one main visit in Rome, then explore nearby streets if time remains. A late-morning timed ticket needs enough margin for the port bus, the train and the final journey in the city.
Getting back: Leave yourself a return option earlier than the last connection that would theoretically reach the ship. Include the station-to-berth transfer in that calculation.
Things to Do
- Civitavecchia's historic harbour: Fort Michelangelo's exterior and the waterfront monuments suit a local walk before you return to the port shuttle.
- Pantheon–Piazza Navona area: a compact focus for a walk in Rome; decide separately whether an interior booking fits.
- Vatican Museums: check the museum's own calendar and book through its official ticket portal. Make this your principal visit, and allow for travel to its Viale Vaticano entrance.
- Colosseum and Forum: the archaeological park requires a reserved Colosseum entry slot. Pick a time that works with the entire transfer, not just the train's arrival in Rome.
Getting back to your ship

Practical Information
Italy uses the euro; Italian is the official EU language. Call 112 in an emergency. Save the berth number, the return-bus boarding point and the ship's port-agent contact. If you need railway assistance, arrange it through the railway service before you travel; don't take the port's shuttle facilities as a guide to platform access.
