Cruise ships dock at the Stazione Marittima on Molo Angioino. Follow the terminal's passenger exit towards the city. Molo Beverello is for hydrofoils, and Calata Porta di Massa is for ferries. When you arrange transport, check the full meeting-point name: these terminals aren't interchangeable.
A pedestrian underpass connects the port with Municipio station. From there, Line 1 takes you to Garibaldi for the railway station or Museo for the National Archaeological Museum. Allow time to get from the ship to the public station entrance. Check ANM's notices about lift and escalator works at the specific stations you'll use, and any restrictions that affect your route.
ANM's Tap&Go accepts contactless payment cards at enabled Line 1 ticket gates (checked 2026-10-09).
About this port
In Naples, you can spend the day in the city or make Pompeii your main outing. The cruise terminal is at Molo Angioino, close to the Municipio metro connection. If your call is short, stay in Naples. An independent visit to Pompeii needs time for the port–metro–railway journey each way, as well as the site itself.
Getting Around
Stay in the city: start your walk at Piazza Municipio, or take Line 1 to Museo and build the day around the museum.
For a taxi, the municipality's fixed fares from the Porto/Molo Beverello/Piazza Municipio zone are €11 one way per standard car to Teatro San Carlo, next to Piazza del Plebiscito, €13 one way to the National Archaeological Museum, or €15.50 one way to Napoli Centrale/Piazza Garibaldi. Ask for the fixed fare before you set off. These fares include luggage and night/holiday supplements; minivans and motorway tolls cost extra. Prices checked 2026-10-09 against the municipal tariff.
Visit Pompeii: take Line 1 to Garibaldi, then follow signs for EAV/Circumvesuviana and a Naples–Sorrento service stopping at Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri. This is the station for Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra. EAV's Pompei Santuario and Trenitalia's Pompei station take you towards Piazza Anfiteatro, a different approach. Before you buy your train ticket, match the station to your admission or guide meeting point.
Campania Express is suspended from 1 October 2026 until further notice, according to EAV's service notice (checked 2026-10-09). The ordinary Naples–Sorrento service has a separate timetable.
For the rail leg, EAV's timetable effective 1 October 2026 gives, for example, 09:56–10:25 from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi to Pompei Scavi–Villa dei Misteri (29 minutes) and 14:17–14:48 back (31 minutes). Timetable checked 2026-10-09; use the current EAV timetable for your travel date.
Getting back: the example Pompeii train times aren't a recommended return for every ship. Count back from your all-aboard time, adding the metro interchange, waiting and terminal walk. Arriving at Garibaldi isn't the same as being back at the ship. If you're staying in Naples, head back towards the port before adding a final stop. If you need a vehicle, agree the pickup location and return arrangements with your driver or the cruise line.
Things to Do
- A walk near the port: start at Castel Nuovo and walk towards Piazza del Plebiscito and the Royal Palace.
- National Archaeological Museum: make the museum at Piazza Museo your main activity, rather than squeezing it in after Pompeii. Take Line 1 to Museo from the port, as the museum's directions recommend.
- Pompeii: full-price Pompeii Express costs €20 for the ancient city; Pompeii Plus costs €25 and adds the suburban villas itinerary. From 15 October to 15 March, Pompeii opens at 09:00, last entry is 15:30 and closing is 17:00. Through 14 October, last entry is 17:30 and closing is 19:00. Tickets are personal and a daily admissions limit applies. Prices and hours checked 2026-10-09 against the park's official ticket page, which links to its authorised online seller.
Naples' historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage property, with monuments from several periods. Pick an area to explore during your port day, rather than trying to see the whole protected centre.

Practical Information
Italy uses the euro and Italian is the official language. In an emergency, call 112.
If you have mobility difficulties, the park's Pompeii for All route starts at Piazza Anfiteatro. Agree your entrance, exit and onward transport before booking; don't automatically follow the Porta Marina route above.
