- Distance: about 0.4 km to Villa Comunale's south side; the municipal pedestrian-route plan lists 433 metres.
- Walk: realistic via Via Molo Manfredi to Villa Comunale; Piazza della Libertà also connects the terminal with the seafront promenade.

Buy your ticket before boarding for €1.40 one way. The on-board fare is €2.50 one way; have exact money, but don't rely on the driver being able to sell you a ticket. Cruise ships dock in the commercial port. The port authority identifies the western side of Molo Manfredi as a cruise berth serving the Stazione Marittima. The Zaha Hadid-designed terminal stands beside Piazza della Libertà, which links it to the lungomare, the seafront promenade.
Confirm your assigned berth and permitted exit before you follow the walking directions. Don't assume your gangway is beside the square just because the terminal is. Follow the ship's instructions for any internal transfer and driver meeting point. If you need gangway or vehicle assistance, arrange it in advance.
About this port
Salerno gives you two workable ways to spend a port day: explore the city from the waterfront, or devote the call to one Amalfi Coast destination. The city option needs little onward transport once you're outside the port. The coast option depends on the ferry's actual departure and return piers, which may differ even within Salerno.
Getting Around
From Piazza della Libertà, stay on the waterfront for a simple outing or turn into the historic centre for the cathedral. The Minerva Garden sits higher in the old town, with terraces and stairs; decide separately whether the climb and access suit you.
For Amalfi or Positano, Travelmar uses Molo Manfredi and Piazza della Concordia, at Masuccio harbour near Salerno railway station. Standard one-way fares from Salerno are €12 to Amalfi or €17 to Positano, including the Salerno departure tax (checked 15 October 2026). Travelmar describes its service as year-round; use its current timetable for your travel date and check the pier for each leg.
Getting back: if your ferry returns to Concordia, you still face another journey along the waterfront to the cruise port. Count back from your ship's all-aboard time and choose an early sailing that leaves time for that transfer and for delays. Rough seas and technical problems can disrupt ferries, so look into a road alternative before you set off. If the return plan is too tight, stay in Salerno or choose an excursion with a return arranged around your call.
Things to Do
- Cathedral and waterfront: make the cathedral on Piazza Alfano I your main interior visit, then head back towards Piazza della Libertà and the promenade. The cathedral has an arcaded courtyard and a decorated crypt; tourist access can change around worship.
- Minerva Garden: choose this terraced botanical garden for its link with the Salerno medical school. The entrance is at Vicolo Ferrante Sanseverino 1. Check the garden's access and opening information before you head uphill.
- One coast town: make Amalfi or Positano the focus of a longer call, but only if both ferry legs and the return to the ship fit. Don't fill the day with extra towns just because they appear on the same network map.
On a short call, the suggested core is the cathedral and waterfront. Add the garden only if opening and mobility needs allow.
