Sail Croatia's small cruise ships dock in Pomena in front of Hotel Odisej. Its Explorer programme also describes coming alongside before passengers explore the lakes. Mljet features in CroisiEurope's Adriatic programme too; the Pomena walking figure applies to a Pomena arrival. Use your ship's daily programme for its settlement, landing and return deadline.

Polače is a public passenger port serving the national park. The park also permits berthing and anchoring in specified areas around Pomena and Polače. These facilities do not mean that every cruise ship uses the same entrance or landing.

Sobra port is not in Sobra village. The county port authority places it in Zaglavac Bay, outside the settlement. If Sobra is your landing, agree the actual port collection point with any driver.

About this port

For a visit to Mljet National Park, establish your arrival location before choosing an activity. Pomena and Polače are park entrances; Sobra is a separate ferry destination. These names are not interchangeable. A lake walk and a visit to St Mary's islet need different amounts of time, especially if your landing requires a road transfer first.

Getting Around

From a Pomena or Polače landing, start with the park visitor information for that entrance. The park identifies a forest path between Pomena and the Small Lake, and a route between Polače and Vrbovica.

The 2026 visitor ticket includes one return boat trip to St Mary's islet and use of the electric train according to its timetable, checked on 2026-09-08. Use the park's boat timetable and electric-train timetable to fit the lake visit into your time ashore.

If arriving at Sobra, arrange transport to the park and back before making the lakes your plan. Choose a ship excursion or a prearranged return transfer matched to the actual landing and all-aboard instructions.

Things to Do

  • A limited lake walk: Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero are seawater lakes within the national park. Pick a section you can retrace rather than committing to a full circuit without checking its distance and return transport.
  • St Mary's islet: the islet in Veliko Jezero has a church and former Benedictine monastery. Add the boat visit only when you can accommodate both crossings and the wait for the return service.
  • Polače's archaeological remains: if your confirmed landing is Polače, the Roman palace remains provide a local heritage option. Check the onward park route separately rather than assuming a harbour visit includes the lakes.

Getting back to your ship

If arriving at Sobra, arrange transport to the park and back before making the lakes your plan. Choose a ship excursion or a prearranged return transfer matched to the actual landing and all-aboard instructions.

Practical Information

  • Currency: euro (€). Croatia adopted it on 1 January 2023.
  • Admission: an adult day ticket costs €30 from June to September and €20 during the rest of 2026, bought online or at the park; it includes the return islet boat trip and electric train. Prices checked 2026-09-08. A vessel's park ticket does not include entry to the land attractions or lakes; individual visitor tickets are required. Check what your excursion includes before purchasing separately.
  • Mobility: arrange assistance for each part of your chosen trip: ship transfer, landing, vehicle, forest path and lake boat.
  • Emergency number: 112 is Croatia's free, round-the-clock emergency number.
