Arrival & Getting Ashore
Getting to the centre: For a tender landing on Poreč's old-town waterfront, the Euphrasian Basilica is the central landmark to head for.
- Walk: realistic through the old-town lanes from the waterfront; the tourist board's walking route connects the Riva, Decumanus and the peninsula's seafront.

Orientation, not a walking route

Poreč has both passenger quays and a designated cruise anchorage. The port authority's published rules identify operational waterfront near Hotel Palazzo, international passenger use of the customs pier, and a cruise anchorage north-west of Peškera bay. The authority also documents cruise use of its anchorage in 2026.
Plan for a tender transfer from the cruise anchorage. The authority recorded Four Seasons I at anchor on 19 June 2026. Use the ship's instructions for its tender landing and last return boat; the customs pier's international-passenger role does not identify it as every ship's landing.
About this port
Poreč suits a shore day built around one substantial visit: the Euphrasian Basilica complex. Pair it with a short walk through the peninsula's lanes, or follow the waterfront if you prefer to stay outside. The basilica's episcopal complex, rather than the entire town, is the UNESCO World Heritage property.
Getting Around
Once landed at the old-town waterfront, walking is the practical way to explore the peninsula. The tourist board publishes a 2.5 km circuit combining the lanes and seafront. You need not complete that circuit: reserve time for the basilica first if entering it matters to you, and shorten the walk afterwards.
For orientation, Decumanus runs through the historic centre; Marafor is the square associated with its Roman remains. The waterfront gives an alternative route around the peninsula. Record where you landed before setting off, especially if your tender return is on a different side from the next place you visit.
For a trip beyond the old town, Arriva's City bus line 1 connects Poreč bus station with Antonci, Nova Vas, Kukci and Špadići. Arriva places the bus station about 500 m from the centre and Riva; this is a station-to-waterfront description, not a distance from your ship's tender.
Things to Do
- Basilica complex: the present church dates from the sixth century, and its mosaics are part of a wider group including the atrium, baptistery and episcopal palace. The complex entered the World Heritage List in 1997. It remains a functioning cathedral; confirm visitor access before planning the rest of your day around admission.
- Marafor and Decumanus: choose a short street walk to see the Roman remains around the square, with time to pause instead of trying to enter every monument.
- Peninsula waterfront: use this as the main outing if you prefer an outdoor visit. Turn back early enough to reach the specific quay your ship is using.
Brijuni is a separate excursion decision. The national park's boats depart from Fažana, which adds a transfer from Poreč and a boat connection in each direction. Compare that complete return plan with the time available ashore before booking.
Getting back to your ship
Return time: for a tender call, allow for the transfer and queue as well as walking back.
