The United Kingdom's ports include city gateways, coastal towns and island calls across several distinct settings. The individual port is therefore the useful starting point for planning a visit. Check where passengers arrive before assuming that the destination named on an itinerary can be reached on foot. A day around the harbour and an excursion to another town are different choices, each with its own transport needs. Match the outing to your time ashore and leave enough room for the return journey. Plan from the actual harbour or landing place rather than the headline destination.

Getting into town

We only compare shuttles and public transport where walking isn't a clear yes. A bus or shuttle may cover only part of the way, or go somewhere else entirely, so check the guide for the route and what the ticket covers. Free shuttles come first. Fares are only put in order when the tickets are the same kind.
